 Recession got you down? Empty wallet keeping you at home? Well there's no reason to give up your jonz for live music during the summer in Michigan. If you can walk, bike or hitch-hike there's a good chance you can catch some live music nearby. Several cities across our great state are hosting free summer concert series on a weekly basis and we've compiled a few for you to check out.

Central Michigan
Alma's Evenings In The Park (PDF) take place in several different local parks on Tuesdays from June through August 11th from 7-9pm.
The Big Rapids Band Shell Concert Series will take place Wednesday evenings from June 17th through Aug. 26th. Show time is from 7 - 8 p.m. Download the PDF or visit the calendar for detailed info.
City of Clare's Annual Summer Concert Series (pdf flyer) takes place at Clare City Park every Thursday evening through June and July from 6 to 8 p.m.
Michigan State College of Music in Lansing is hosting the Muelder Carillion Summer Concert Series on Wednesdays @ 6 p.m rain or shine at Beaumont Tower.
East Lansing Summer Concert Seires will take place at Fountain Square on Fridays and Ann St. Plaza on Saturdays from 7-9 p.m
St. Johns Music In The Park (PDF) are held Wednesday evenings at 7pm at the City Park Performance Shell.
Western Michigan
Kalamazoo's Concerts In the Park take place every Sunday at 4pm at Bronson Park through June, July and August.
Holland Michigan Summer Concert Series is sponsored by Huntington Bank and takes place on Fridays from 6:30 to 8:30 at Kollen Park.
Gram On The Green is the summer concert series hosted by the Grand Rapids Art Museum and will take place on Friday eveings starting at 5 p.m. at the Rosa Parks Circle Stage in downtown Grand Rapids.
Lowell's Sizzlin' Summer Concerts take place on Thursday eveings at 7 pm at Riverwalk Plaza from June 11th through Aug. 20th.
East Grand Rapids Concerts At John Collin's Park will take place on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Southwest Michigan
Fennville's Tuesdays In The Park takes place every other Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. through Aug 4th at Memorial Park.
City of Niles' Summer Concert Series will feature live music at Riverfront Park Ampitheatre on on Wednesdays from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursdays from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Sundays from 6:00 - 8:30 pm.
St. Joseph's Flagstar Friday Night Concert Series will take place at the John E.N. Howard Band Sheel on Port St. downtown on Fridays from June 5th to Sept. 4th at 7:30 unil 9:00.
St. Joseph: Brown Bag Concert Series, sponsored by AEP Indiana Michigan Power, will take place on Wednesdays from 12 noon till 1p.m at the John E.N. Howard Band Sheel on Port St.
Saugatuck's Music In The Park takes place on Wednesdays at the gazebo in Wicks Park at 7:00 pm. starting on July 1st.
South Haven's Riverfront Concert Series takes place every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Riverfront Park. Call 1 800 SO Haven for details.
Three Oaks' Music In The Park takes place on Saturdays at Dewey Cannon Park and begins at 7:00 p.m. through Sept. 5th.
Southeast Michigan
The Bank Of Ann Arboris sponsoring Sonic Lunch, a series of free lunchtime concerts at the corner of Liberty & Division streets on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
City of Birmingham's 2009 Summer Concerts are currently being held in Booth Park on Wednesday evenings beginning at 7pm.
Village of Milford Summer Concerts @ Central Park will take place on Thursdays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m
Monroe's Jazz In The Square takes place every Friday at 7 pm from July 17th through Aug. 7th. at Loranger Square Pavillion at 1st & Washington streets.
The City of Novi Concerts In The Park will take place on Thursdays at 7:00pm at Power Park or Lakeshore Park
Farmington features Rhythms In Riley Park concert series every Friday night from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
Northville Parks & Rec will host the Summer Friday Night Concerts at the Towne Square from on Fridays from June 12 to Aug 28, 2009 from 7-9:30 pm.
Rochester's Music In The Park take place at Rochester Municipal Park from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Northern Lower Michigan
Alpena will host the True North Radio Summer Concert Series at the Bay View Park Band Shell on Saturdays from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Boyne City's "Evenings At The Gazebo" take place on Wednesday's at 6:30pm from July 1st to Sept. 2nd at Old City Park.

The Charlevoix Concert Series will take place on Sunday evenings at new state-of-the-art lakeside Performance Pavilion beginning on July 5th and running through Labor Day. Opening acts will begin at 6 p.m.
Upper Peninsula
Ishpeming's Summer Concerts will be held Thursdays starting 25th at 5:30 pm or 7:00 p.m at Old Ish Park on Main St. You'll have to call Kurt Gronvall at 906-485-1066 to figure out which.
