| I'm going to take the extremely unpopular position of saying that the judges on America's Next Greatest Band were right about The Muggs.
Danny Methric is an amazing guitarist, and the band has great energy, but I have to say I could hardly stand to watch/hear him sing live.
I know, sacrilege in this town. Leave it to me to say the wrong things about the right people. Now, I've met Danny Methric (extremely nice guy), I've seen him play live (excellent chops and even better energy) and even checked out The Muggs online one last time just to be sure of my opinion. With the proper treatment, his voice really works. The record sounds good. But his vocals weren't working on national television and, in this culture, that's a real problem.
If I had my druthers, I would have had Tommy Mann from The Kingsnakes singing for The Muggs on television. Why? Danny Methric sat in with The Kingsnakes at our very first fundraiser at The New Way. It was really, really amazing. But alas, nobody asked. |
