Random Reviews: Colic Posted on: 12-07-2005 @ 07:39 am |

Found this band randomly in our links. This is highly polished power pop on the order of Green Day, though the band's been told they sound more like "mid 90s Britpop (Oasis, Stone Roses) mixed with American alternative radio rock (Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World). That should give you a real good idea of where they fall in the subgenre game.

"Promise Me Anything" is radio-ready pop rock; great hooks, great harmonies, slick delivery and energy to spare. If you heard it on 89x you wouldn't think anything of it; it would fit right in with modern rock radio. Is that a good thing? Your call.

Complaints: Very well done and worth the five-bucks for six tracks - but too bubblegum for my taste. Nicely packaged but relatively shallow on the content side. But every teenage girl deserves their very own favorite local band - why not Colic? |
