It requires knowing some music theory to "get it", but it looks to use a lighted hexigonical table, each spot representing a note with its most harmonic notes surrounding it (probably the pentatonic scale, including an octave, making 6 surrounding spots total). Spots a certain quantity away represent time, so a spot 4 hexs away would represent firing that note on the 4th beat. Various discs can be placed on the board which can "ricochet", split or stop the sequence. It also has various sliders and keys off to the side to mold the sequence a bit.
There's way more to it, I'm sure. You've gotta see it to really get the gist of it. Looks like a fun toy...
