Ed submitted a link in our classified section to his discography of great american covers. Check it out ( a list of samples below each record).

Just as an aside, one of the weirdest vacations I ever had was on Beaver Island (on Lake Michigan north west of Petosky). Let's just say it involved a tribe of indians, a pirate named "sonic", a VW bus with a cannon strapped to the roof (my six-year old nephew was driving, btw), stealing a rock back from "professor paleface" and pushing said bus up a sandy hill in the jungle of a jet-black island night.

I will definitely never forget Beaver Island.

I had an offer to play on Beaver Island for a wedding once, a couple years back. It sounded interesting, and I had to submit an asking price. I figured what I'd have to do to drive to the ferry, pay for that, schlep my stuff to the venue and back from the dock (something I'm familiar with with playing on Mac Island), the overnight board and up to probably three meals out, total, and effectively shooting up my weekend. I said I'd do it all for $300, which was pretty low, considering all. I never got called back...

I often wonder who they eventually got for that gig. Whoever it was, they probably lost their shirt playing it...
