Wake of Destruction started in guitarist Scott Warnke's basement with drummer Jeff Welch in June of 2004. While they were living out a childhood dream in jamming, they soon found that jamming without a full band was pretty boring. So, Scott began writing lyrics to the basement jams and the search was on to complete the band. Nick Candela entered the scene in the fall of 2005 as the bass player. Nick was an avid jazz guitarist who started out on the bass. Within a month or so we had about seven songs arranged. Unfortunately, singers for the band were hard to come by. While it seemed as though everyone who tried out for the band was enthusiastic, life kept getting in the way and the band hit a stumbling block. By the spring of 2006 the band was back to being a two-piece as Nick started playing in a three piece jazz band called Styles Davis. Throw in Scott's wedding and Jeff's new addition to the family and it seemed that Wake of Destruction would never get off the ground. In fact, practices were down to about one per month. January 2007 saw the rebirth of enthusiasm and drive to succeed as Scott searched hard for a bass player. By February, "The Original Dumbass," Chris Dumas had joined the band as the new bassist. Chris was pretty green, but he was exactly what the band was looking for, someone who could grow with the music the same as Scott and Jeff. With a new and dedicated bassist, Nick rejoined the band to add his ripping lead guitar. Then the search began to find a singer yet again. In the process of promoting his band, Ryan Vronch, the bassist for Up From Ashes, invited Jeff to one of his shows through a MySpace search. As fortuitous as it was, Jeff invited the rest of The Wake to listen to Ryan's band. Ryan's backup vocals were raw and nasty, with just the kind of hardcore sound they were looking for. Jeff asked Ryan if he would be interested in doing a side project as a singer and Wake of Destruction became official in April of 2007. Since then, Wake of Destruction has been scorching the Flint area with an old-school hardcore sound. Every member of the band has a slightly different taste in music, but one thing they all agree on is the feel their music brings. The band has a humble and straightforward approach to making music, with the idea that they want to see every head bobbing at a show. With this approach the sound one gets is one of power and groove. The rest of the story has yet to be determined…....................
