BROKE!- a Detroit style of rock! The band Broke incorporates five souls out for the same thing; to make music and have fun. What's unique about the band BROKE is the strange diversity of age and music within the members. The singer Lauren Whitmore is a 22 year old Pat Benatar fan. Guitar player Kevin Smith is a 35 year old Black Label Society fanatic. Guitar player Shawn O'neal is 42 and a huge Zepplin and Rush fan. Drummer Doug(bam bam) Rowe is a 37 year old "big guy with a big heart", and 45 year old Bass player Randy Werner is the guy who keeps them all together. The band was born in 2001 when Kevin, Randy and Doug met at a DOWN show at Harpos in Detroit; they play mostley rock but cater to each others taste. Blessed with Lauren's voice in May of '07 and Shawn in July of '07, they both brought a fresh new sound with her voice, and a fullness to the sound of the band with the the extra guitar. With the common love of music, this haphazard band keeps on fixing and reaching for higher goals.
