West Michigan Music sending winner to Music Summit
wmichmusic writes The winner of the World Series of Rock and Roll, West Michigan's largest music showcase, will receive national exposure by being guaranteed a performance spot in the Midwest Music Summit, a well-known new talent showcase held in Indianapolis.

Westmichiganmusic.com
, an affiliate of both events, will present the winning band with the opportunity at the finals, which will be held June 12th at The Club Soda in Kalamazoo.
The six final bands include Mulligan, Your Best Friend, Jim Crawford Band, Jade Trees Weeping, The Nastys, and Grotto North.

Now in its fourth year, Midwest Music Summit is an established multi-functioning music conference that builds networking bridges between independent artists and industry representatives. This year includes over 250 artists showcasing at 22 venues in Indianapolis from August 12-14th with the emphasis being put on discovering unsigned talent.

Converging on Indianapolis for the showcases as well as taking part in industry panels and day parties, MMS creates a forum for exposure with the top music journalists, A&R reps, management firms, and taste makers from all over the world.

Past attendees of the Summit have included key note addresses from KRS-1 and Martin Kierszenbaum, label representation from Atlantic, Columbia, Dream Works, Interscope, Geffen, A&M, Thrill Jockey, Island/Def Jam, Artemis, No Name, Road Runner, Minty Fresh, Warner Bros, New Line, and Universal Records as well as other industry splinters including the Dutch Pop Institute, XM Radio, NARAS, radio, print media, and artist management firms.

The World Series of Rock and Roll has had over 100 bands perform in the showcase and competition since February. The judging criteria for the event is based on musicianship, music, stage presence, songwriting, and crowd reaction. The World Series of Rock was open to all bands in Michigan.
