bigsexysoundman writes I would like to start out by congratulating everyone at Michiganbands.com on the sucess of Frog-a-Palooza. I personally (regrettably) could not attend due to a family emergency. All is well on that front. I kept in touch with some of the bands that played and they all said it went very well and the turnout was great. I guarantee I will not miss next year shows.
Now here's what's been going on in the last few weeks ...Back on Feb. 25TH at The Emerald Zug Izland, Eve to Adam, KOYL and Personal Vandalism all did very well. Zug Izland as usual put on a high energy show, whipping the crowd into a frenzy. And pretty impressed with Eve to Adam - its kind a hard rock hillbilly mix thats unique and powerfull. Now KOYL got the most positive response out of the hardcore juggalo crowd next to Zug Izland. To have that crowd start chanting 'Family,Family' for KOYL is a huge compliment. The Psycopathic Records family and fans are a tight bunch and never show fake love. Special props to Violent J and all his people. They've always been cool to me and I had a kick ass time.
And lets not forget the after party at The Hayloft. There was an all star jam featuring members from Critical Bill, Zug izland, ICP, Esham and others. Too much fun.
And speaking of Critical Bill, If caught their show at the Hayloft on Feb. 28th with Jocain and Killin the Norm, assuming you got in before it sold out, was one their of top performances of all time. Keep your eye on those guys, they're about to blow things wide open around here. Not since the likes of Kid Rock has a local band (hard rock anyway) created such a buzz. Their new cd will be out soon. They are recording the final tracks as we speak. And lastly a special shout out to DJ Tom Sawyer from Critical Bill. He was seriously injured in accident last weekend. He's home now and in a couple of months be good as new.
Another great show was at the Hayloft on March 6 with LAST and Krank Nine.It was a Mardi Gras theme and was a blast.Much love goes out to LAST Manager LEESA who is one of most dedicated and hardworking ladies in rock n roll.
This upcoming week I'll be at Bull Frogs on wed. the 24th with Midget Town, and Sat. the 27th at the Hayloft with Soul Driven,LAST,Midget Town and others for a WRIF showcase nite.
Now for the dish. Keep your eye on Psycopathic Records, they are starting a hard rock label and have been courting KOYL and Critical Bill. I think it's a good move because things are just starting to take off around here and they are willing to invest in the future of Detroit music. I hope it pans out. Your going to have to wait on the other entry in a future edition of THE DISH but I know 'the first' band put on the WRIF Harley Fest local band lineup. They don't even have a national act booked yet. But like I said you will have to be patient on that one.
One last thing before I go. My BIG SEXY birthday bash is Friday April 23rd at the Hayloft with KOYL, LAST, MIDGET TOWN, PERSONAL VANDELISM,THY'the brother'and DANE and the return of one of Detroits legendary metal bands (its a secret, but here's a clue: 'hatred makes rage'). There will also be a special appearance by members of CRITICAL BILL in a all star jam. There will be lots of door prizes and a special autographed guitar by CRITICAL BILL. Also free food and all kinds of other suprises.
Well that's it for this edition be good and god bless.
Peace.
