 Where are the Booking agents?
Zen_Blues_Dog writes
It seems like forever since we had real booking agents, who were actively looking for talent to book.
Musicians play music, that is what they do best, and that is what they should be doing, playing the music. Booking agents should book those musicians and their bands. However, there are very few [if any] any REAL booking agents out there any more. . . Click "Read More" below.

I have seen the live music business in Michigan, take a long painful dive over the last 30 years. The worst of it, is seeing these so called booking agents that are out there, booking Karaoke, and DJs. [some of that stuff is ok] far more than real, live, worked their asses off rehearsing, MUSICIANS.
What is wrong with this picture. In my opinion,
EVERYTHING!

You are right Zen_Blues_Dog.

But I think this is part of a larger problem.
People want to get paid for there work...
Booking Agents included.

When is the last time a DJ or Karaoke Host / Hostess had to get involved in ticket sales to get paid? Never...
Bar owneres will pay for DJ's and Karaoke, but will they pay for Live Acts... Most clubs expect Live Acts to bring their own crowd.

So the cycle continues...
I don't like it either.
If you find an agent drop me a line.

I am the real thing kiddies. Or at least I'm trying to be. I'm booking a band, two solo artists, a tour for another band, and I book one venue constantly, with about five more that I manage monthly shows. I write for the Pit Monthly, I promote, and I do a little bit here and there. Stay tuned, as I dig up more projects and develop more contacts. Eventually, once I get my shit organized, the empire will expand. As for now, it will continue to be a clusterfudge. Keep an eye out for me on the old message boards.
