Who the hell is Motown Rage?
CCR writes From the Motown Rage website - Back before it was rap/rock was the the radio freindly, commercial wave of sometimes watered down music you hear today,a band called Harms Way was ripping up stages all across the country, opening up for such artists as Kid Rock (who produced many tracks for them) I.C.P., and their good friends Pantera. Well as time went on,  music biz b.s. began to wear on certain members, new members came and went, but the core of the group, Razor Ray (guitar and vocals), and Steve Berger aka 2 def (bass) remained intact with one goal in mind...BLOWING UP.

During member changes, Razor and Steve were approached by none other than the Insane Clown Posse to go on the bizaar/bizzar tour and play guitar and bass for them (make up and all) and they never even hesitated. After playing many dates, and living the life that major label artists do, they knew that was the level they wanted to achieve with there own music, music they coined RAP & ROLL.

But who could they get to take it to that next level and fit into the puzzle? Well, they had done many shows with Mob Mentality, a collective of hardcore M.C.'s featuring a guy named Sadistic (formelly know as Mindbenda), who himself was grinding it out in the scene producing for Y.T.G., as well as playing shows with many national acts such as I.C.P., Mystikal, Onyx, Das Efx, Eminem (before he became a household word) and House of Krazees (now known as Twiztid). They knew he had a understanding of the hip hop scene as well as a love of the hard rock/metal genre of music.

When presented with an chance to play with Detroit's premiere rap/rock duo, Sadistic decided to check it out and said "Well, I'll do a song" and the initial meeting turned from one song into two the first night, and a chemistry was born.

Completing the puzzle was Stone Mojo's bass player/drummer and longtime friend of the band Bernie Alexander aka Burn-1. upon hearing the new songs decided right away to jump on board and see where this music ride would take him. He had only one condition, let him produce an album with these guys and he was in.

A year later, Motown Rage is here, coming with the str8 fire. The self titled debut that is taking it to the next level. And what separates them from all of the rap/rock bands that are out now?  Sadistic says "Not a lot of these frontmen of the so called rap/rock bands got lyrics. Atleast nothing to make you say, I cant believe he just said that".

Motown Rage delivers a style that is rapid fire, quick witted, sometimes brutally honest, and musically diverse, and that alone puts them ahead of the pack, with an ability to tell a good story, rock a party, and spark reaction out of anyone. If you dont believe anything else, see them live, and they will put all doubters to rest. with years of stage experience, and enough energy to tear down a whole city block, Motown Rage is for sure the next big thing.

You can always head on down to the Heidleburg in downtown Ann Arbor February 14 for thier CD release party to see for yourself. Hope to see you there. MotownRage.com
