 Impalerfest Day Two Show Review
SonicDisturbance writes
Sunday August 24th
The Old Miami

So I load up my car and get ready to do my thing at Impalerfest. I want to get there early, set up my stuff, since I go on second, and then soak in the rest of the acts until my energy runs out. Here is where the pleasant surprise comes; I stayed from start to finish.

DJ Rick Kicked off the Second Day of Impalerfest with Southwest Detroit Hip-Hop that is One Part Run-DMC, One Part Kid Rock and One Part Nelly, but all DJ Rick. Solid Flowing Rhymes and a Good Mix of Rock and Hip-Hop Styles. The Old Miami was almost sounding like an MTV Beach House.
Up Next Sonic Disturbance, this is not to toot my own horn so, yeah. ACID Electro-Rock with some strobes is all I will say about myself.

Totally Disturbed is the Third Act of the Day. A 3-Piece Rock Band with a slight Punk Flavor. They have a sound that is kind of like Alice Cooper meets Green Day in a Blue-Collar Detroit way. Working for the weekend and hanging on to the little sanity they have left. A good solid set from Totally Disturbed.

Up next is Dragon Lady, can't remember her real name. An Ex-Impaler Bandmate, This Lady has a Great Voice and played percussion while singing. Very soothing sounds of the bittersweet nature of people trying to find their place in this world.

So I start thinking that Impalerfest has gone from Hip-Hop to Techno to Blue Collar Rock to World Beat, is this Indie-Palooza-Detroit, where are all the sponsors? What is up next? Well next up was the Evil One himself. Imapler, Nisroc, Deadly Mistress Donna, and Toby fired up a Gothic Warning of your choices in this life. Mid-Tempo, Thick, Dark Brooding Beats, with Guitar, Synth and Bass swirling around Imapler's Baritone Vocals. Has Pavarotti been banished to the underworld?

The Idiots Fired up a Punk-Power singing along of crazed stories. I start thinking; I can actually hear the vocals. I have been able to hear the vocals all day long, which is a nod to Nate the soundman. The Idiots made me think twice about all the High Schools bullies we ran into, and may have been. Simple Funny Punk-Rock with a message.

The Farleys closed out the night with a Funky-Punky Classic Rocky Kind of Set. A Drummer who was killing it with only a Bass and Snare Drum. Solid Bass Lines, Soaring Guitar Solos and Rasta Farley sang songs inspired by Bob Marley and UHF Television. There was no better way to finish the night.

So I go home thinking that Impalerfest could have very easily been the Detroit Indie Show of the summer. Go check out all these acts! I could have packed my bags and went home after my set, but I was happy I stayed all the way to the end.
