| What's your preferred medium for music? |

 Apple computer has recently launched it's iTunes Music Store on which users are charge $1 per nationally released single song download. The new service is being touted as their answer to internet piracy and overpriced CD's. If Apple's successful, it could mark the beginning of the end of CD's - and physical music mediums altogether. Are you ready to trade-in your album, tapes or CD collections for a one-box-does-it-all, take-it-with-you-everywhere digital music player like the iPod? Or will it be just another electronic gadget taking up space and time in your life? It got us wondering, what is your preferred medium for music? Please take a moment to respond to our latest poll. (User Info | Send a Message | Journal) http://www.michiganbands.com | | I grew up in an era where you bought your "album", rushed home to listen to it and stared at the cover art, lyrics and liner notes for the entirety of the record. I'm really going to miss those days. It's hard to imagine feeling the same way about music I own without some cover art. |

Some might argue that statement, and say that you can burn the digital tunes off on a CDR and print out the artwork on a inkjet printer and have the same thing...
Home computer equipment cannot reproduce the same quality or detail that the artist and musicicans intended for you to see and hear.
On the other hand, the DDD format could spark a new fire in the Indie world, provided ITunes creates a venue for Independant artists to promote their wares on their site alongside mainstream artists.

(User Info | Send a Message) | | In my opinion, all the art is a cohesive form(at least it should be). Each piece should feel as if it is a part of the whole. Taking away these vital pieces of the experiance;the CD, the packaging and art, the liner notes, just serves to further the idea that music is just a product to be consumed and discarded. |
