Random Acts of Music: DMA 2003
OK, just because we've won the war doesn't mean your really safe - at least not from Michiganbands.com Random Acts of Music. We're still targeting members of the unsuspecting public with free CD's and proselytizing for independent music. In this particular R.A.M. incident, we preach to the choir and reward a few attendees at the 2003 Detroit Music Awards. But don't get too comfortable in your post-war jubilation, you're still considered a viable target for our continuing mission to spread the music.

Victim: Carrie Forth
Home: Taylor, Michigan
CD: "Kilkenny" (debut)

We ambushed our first local music fan, Carrie Forth, near The State bar (where they keep the alcohol, not the lawyers). She received the brand new debut from local garage rockers Kilkenny. She was happy to get some free music - maybe not so happy to be ambushed by a web-dork with a camera; note the well-placed middle finger. Of course, it could just as well be a sub-conscious display of her affection for Kilkenny's Nick Woods whose face is obscured by the fair maiden's finger.

Victim: Jennifer Pelton
Home: ????
CD: The Hungry Ghost (Blake Chen)

Wherever she's from (I forgot to write it down), State Theater bartender Jennifer Pelton kept me well lubricated with double Jeigers all night long. Even though I never once got a break on the price ($12.50!!!), I gave Jennifer her choice from my magic camera bag of free local music. She chose "The Hungy Ghost" from electro-gothic asian troubador Blake Chen. Enjoy the darkness, Jennifer.

Victims: Mr. & Mrs. Jason Peterson
Home: Royal Oak
CD: Kilkenny (debut)

If I remember correctly, I think Jason Peterson said he and his lovely wife Jennifer just celebrated their twelfth wedding anniversary. And I said something like, "What, did you get married in grade school?" In any case, this very young, good-looking couple from Royal Oak enjoy their local music so I thought it only fitting to reward them with a disc from homeboys Kilkenny. Besides, drummer Dan Stackpoole kept sticking them in my hands every time I put my drink down. Enjoy the disc, folks, you're gonna dig it.
