We've just added two new blocks to the MB front page in a effort to level the playing field a bit.
In addition to the block that listed the band sites with the most total votes, we've now added the highest rated sites on a scale of 1 to 10 and the newest additions to the band link system.
We also cleaned out the votes to date. We will be doing this on a monthly basis so that every one has an equal chance.

We have gotten complaints about the way the band links were displayed. Some are always looking for a conspiracy I guess. Here is how the system works.
The "Most Votes" block simply displays the most total votes for the band's site. The system limits people to one vote per day whether they vote directly on MB or come from the band's website. You may have already noticed this. This makes it very difficult to manipulate the votes. This doesn't preclude someone that has mailing lists or street teams from asking their fans to vote for them.
The "Highest Rated" block displays the sites that have the highest rating on a scale of 1 to 10. This is chosen by the voter when they cast their vote.
The "Newest" block just displays the latest additions to the band links system.
I've never been too happy with the whole competition aspect of the links system. Maybe this will offer a different perspective. If not, I may consider doing some sort of random list.
