 Serendipitous Gem from Kilkenny
Occassionally I'll listen to music samples while I'm adding events to the calendar, waiting to hear something that really gets me off. It's rare that it happens, but when it does I can't wait to share it with everyone.
When Kilkenny posted their gig at The Hayloft, I noticed their URL wasn't the one listed with our site. When I visited their old page, I happened upon the gem "Marvin" (download here). Rare alternative smack that makes you want to dye your hair blue, tear holes in your clothes, stick safety-pins through your nose and dig out your old Violent Femmes and Wall Of VooDoo records. The kids call it Garage, I call it Killer stuff. -

From the KilKenny website.

In November of 2001, Nick Woods and Dan Stackpoole formed the band Kilkenny, and began focusing purely on strong songwriting. They bring back the raw energy and ingenuity of early 80’s and 90’s music, yet create an entirely new and original sound. Nick’s guitars range from pristinely clear to hideously distorted, with a powerful voice often compared to the likes of T-Rex, Faith No More, Alice In Chains and several 80’s crooners. Add to that some franticly unconventional percussion and background vocals by Dan Stackpoole, and you have the music of Kilkenny.

Kilkenny has performed high intensity rock shows at the Hayloft Liquor Stand, I-Rock, Wired Frog, Blind Pig, Mr. Muggs, Elbow Room, Paychecks, and Lili’s 21, to name a few. They combine 40 catchy, melodically distorted original songs with covers from bands like The Cure, Nirvana, The Clash, Weezer, The Smiths, and the Violent Femmes.

With what has been described as a “completely original sound,” Kilkenny is poised to break into the music industry and divert the course of popular music back to reality.

Wouldn't you know it. The minute I post the URL for the song, we start having problems with it. I'll try to get it fixed ASAP. You have to hear this tune.

Cool Tune. Remindes me of Fez without the production.
