 Grace Introduces The Klaver Project
graceiam writes

When I first the boys in The Klaver Project they were our special impromtu guests at a show we did at Mt. Chalet, in Royal Oak. We performed there one Sunday a month for several months, to a house-full of very loving, and generous, familiar-faces. My drummer, Michael J. Kora, and my pianoman/arranger, Lucky Joe Neely, had 'another band' and they wanted us all to meet. The very first 'sit-in' was a magical moment, as Klaver's lead vocalist, Reggie Smith, and I found harmony a natural occurance between us.
He has the voice of an angel and a heart-full of love for the pleasure of sharing that gift with everyone in the room. It is a joy to watch him perform, as well as to enjoy the opportunity to sing in unison with him...which I do, every chance I get!

That was just over a year ago....since then, I have enjoyed the privilege of spending many a high-time in the company of this band of merry young men...singing around the fire till all wee-hours, chasing down train-tracks in the dark and other such nonsense! Over this past yearI have become their greatest devotee...watching in wonder and ever increasing respect, as my 'pianoman' unfolded his many 'petals', revealing his hidden talents on the harmonica, the melodica and the trumpet....oh, yeah and he sings, too!

Then, just behind him ('to his left and your right') our own Michael J. Kora, lays aside his sticks and transforms into one very sweet acoustic guitarist, with a brand new song on his lips.

'The Klaver-Experience' only got sweeter for me when, about two months ago, 'all the planets aligned properly' and I discovered myself deeply in love with guitarist/originator of the Project, Nicholas Klaver...yes, I am a bit 'partial' to these guys, but this boy can play the Blues. He brings to this group an ever increasing appreciation and hunger for blue-perfection ....which, I dare say, they aren't far from.

Their most recent show, at Detroit's Cadieux Cafe, was one of those blessed events when you leave with sore cheeks from smiling so long and so intently all night. Lots of love goes out to this bunch and they send it all right back at you everytime they perform their own incredible version of 'Hot-buttered, soulicious, funktified, hard-hittin, bootylicious, jazznasticated, rock-n-rollinated, fluent, smooth-like-a-groove, crazy-good-lovin, shakin, goodness!'

You can join the Klaver Project email list at Klaverproject@yahoo.com or watch the MichiganBands.com Calendar for the updates I keep posted! (... and see what MB's own Cheif Editor, Mitch Phillips, had to say about my favorite local band by clicking here.

But either way, give yourself a treat and see these guys at your earliest conveinence....it'll make you feel warm and fuzzy!

GRACE To You,
graceiam
