 Liz Larin / N.U.D.E.
Normally I wouldn't spend my Friday night in a coffee house getting jacked on capuccinos, but the opportunity to see Liz Larin / N.U.D.E. was too much to resist. Larin performed with Robert Tye for the New Union Dance & Electronica CD Release Party at Xhedos Cafe in Ferndale. She appears on track 14 of the compilation with a song called "Want you, don't need you" - you can hear a Real Audio sample here.

How did Liz Larin, DMA winner for Outstanding Acoustic Act end up on a compilation of Dance & Electronica Music? (ed - personally, I think she could yodel over polka music while playing bag-pipes in tap-shoes and make it sound good. That voice drives me wild ). "It was a freak coincidence," says N.U.D.E. producer, Terence Damian. "The compilation was already in the can and then I ran into Liz at Good Night Gracie's in Royal Oak."

According to Damian, Larin was so impressed with the collection she wanted to include her own electronic work. "I was really excited to have Liz interested in the CD but I didn't have enough time left on it," Damian said. With seventeen artists already lined-up for the compilation he had to do some quick negotiating. The artist "Pleiadian" agreed to re-edit his piece, "a titillating tintinnabulation", and the extra minute and a half allowed enough room to include Larin's song. "I'm very proud to have Liz Larin as the 18th artist on the N.U.D.E. compilation."

Flying in all the way from The Netherlands to perform in the Detroit area, promote N.U.D.E. and attend the Detroit Electronic Music Festival in Hart Plaza was Budha Building who crouched behind the eerie glow of his laptop, mixing beats, looping rhythms and weaving threads of sound into an electronic tapestry for the fashionable Ferndaliens who sipped their boiled bean broth from paper cups and lounged in cafe' chairs. According to Damian, Buhda's produced more than sixty records in his career. "Low Frequecy's Nature", Budha's contribution appears on track 15 of the N.U.D.E. compilation. - Mitch
