Global Entertainment is hosting a 3 show series that will consist of taping live local bands. The program that they will be putting together with this footage should be airing in July on UPN50. Last night was the first of that series at the Irock Nightclub in Detroit. The next show is Sunday April 28 at the Majic Bag in Ferndale.
As far as the Irock show went I must say that there wasn't a bad band in the house!! Hat's off to Allison for picking top of the line bands. Would have liked to see some host's/MC's that you could hear & get the crowd fired up but all in all Global Entertainment still did an excellent job putting this together. There was some serious talent taking the stage last night.
Motown Rage was the first in the line up of bands chosen, what an excellent kick off. If this band can't get you fired up and moving - nobody can. Besides thier incredible music they were playing timbales, throat singing, the guitar player was using a power drill for sound effects (WHILE playing his guitar I must add) & even had a uniformed outfits. Talk about having it all together! You never walk away from one of thier shows unimpressed - these guys always put on a good show.
696 was having a great time up there and it showed. If you are looking for some real Detroit style heavy Metal/Rock these guys are your men! This was my first time seeing them and I think they were a fantasitc choice to put in this line up. (the guitar player was off the hook!) They made sweating your ass off under all those lights look pretty damn fun. They didn't miss a beat or even slightly get off key as far as I could tell. That was surprising to me because unfortunately the sound needed to be tweeked much more for these first two bands. I am happy I finally got a chance to see 696.
Oblivion closed the night out wih a bang (seems like this was about the time that the sound system got on point). These guys wanted to entertain you so bad that they read a story book about "poop" on stage! They sounded great no doubt about that though. They touched on alot styles as far as the vocals went - singing, scream vocals, and harmony was all right on time. Sort of an Alien Ant Farm meets Green Day. These guys provided a great ending for an excellent night.
The next time any of these bands are playing in your area, you need to make it a point to get out there! All in all, if you didn't get to the Irock last night you missed a damn good show. Good job guys. You are truly the cream of the crop!! |
