 MBlurbs 9.6.08
Mblurbs 9.6.08Hey bandheads, didn't think you'd ever hear from me again, eh?  What's that? You don't care? Tsk, tsk, you should get so much attention.  Well, I felt the whim to submit some new MBlurbs for your perusal. Oh, feel free to submit your own -  that offer has only been available since 2001 so if you haven't yet contributed, you can take that as a hint.

In this edition of MBlurbs we'll be covering Liz Larin's foray into avante garde with New Music Detroit, Kitty Donohoe's attempt to levitate The Pentagon with her 9/11 music, Nadir's dose of tear gas courtesy of the Republican National Convention, National Ghost's latest attempt to acheive validation at the MME, Chris McCall's extra-musical "Contact" in Ypsi and finally, Radar Pilot's national health care policy - since nobody else seems to have one that works.   Click "read more" below for the 411.  - Mitch

Though she's not listed anywhere on the program, Liz Larin will be joining Robert Tye and Friends and avant-garde classical group New Music Detroit for a couple of numbers at NMD's music marathon at MoCad which starts today starting at noon. One of the performances will be a composition by John Zorn called Cobra on which she will provide improvised vocals and visuals. If you're staying in tonight, hear NME's strange, beautiful music at http://www.newmusicdetroit.com/ and check out Liz a@ www.LizLarin.com.

Kitty Donohoe will be performing her song "There Are No Words"  at the dedication of the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial in Arlington, Virginia. She'll be accompanied by veteran local musicians David Mosher on mandolin and Pooh Stevenson on cello and backed by the United States Air Force Band and Choir.  Her song will also reportedly be featured in an upcoming documentary about 9/11. http://kitdonohoemi.tripod.com/index.html

Jonah Nadir Omawale may have got more than he bargained for at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul Minnesota last week.  Seems our local MTV Choose Or Lose correspondent got a dose of tear gas for his efforts to videotape some protesters who intended to march on the convention. Ahh....like the summer of love all over again! See and hear all this and more at Nadir's website http://distortedsoul.com/ or at http://think.mtv.com/profile/Nadir

National Ghost, featuring former Robb Roy vocalist Graham Strachan,  will be performing at the first annual Metro Music Expo to take place from September 12th - 14th at The Rock Financial Showplace on Grand River in Novi, Mi.  The band has completed their debut disc and are quite "stoked". Get primed for the performance over at http://www.nationalghost.com/

Chris McCall will be releasing her fourth record entitled "Contact", following her dual 2006 releases "Every Day The Rain" and "Irish" and 2003's "The Real You" (you can read the MB review here). McCall performed selections from Contact at the Ypsi Crossroads Festival this past Friday with husband Jason Kuehn on Guitar, Keith Malinowski on Bass
and Dave McWilliam on Drums.  If you missed that performance, check out her video for "Elevator" in our video section.

Radar Pilot will be jamming at a medical benefit show for Tim Carnegie at The Berkley Front on Saturday, September 13th with Smokin' Moses and The Science Fair. $5 at the door, all proceeds to benefit Tim Carnegie's medical fund. Will they ever fix f!@@#$ health care system in this country?  Write your congressman and ask him/her why don't you?  When you're done doing your civic duty, check out Radar Pilot @ Myspace.
