Anthony Vallone and Sara Stepnicka of ValloNicka Films in Garden City are looking for music from Detroit artists for "Sometimes in Life", a new feature film that is currently in post-production.

“There’s a reason why Detroit is one of the world’s music capitals,” said director/co-producer Anthony Vallone. “We have a lot of amazing talent here, so it was only natural to dive into our local scene to showcase some fantastic bands in our upcoming film.”

"Sometimes in Life" is the story of two unlikely friends whose lives are stuck in a rut. Jill is convinced that her lesbian girlfriend is cheating on her and Rob can’t seem to pick himself up after the lose of his father.

Click "read more" below for more information.

For the music in "Sometimes in Life", Vallone and Stepnicka are especially interested in funk/soul tunes, quirky rock tunes a la Modest Mouse and acoustic guitar/piano pieces with male vocals. Presley, The Bloids and The Cetan Clawson Revolution are among the Detroit bands whose music will be in the film.

To submit music for consideration, email a myspace link or web link (no MP3 files or attachments) to info@sometimesinlifetheomovie.com. The deadline is August 22. To see the trailer and learn more about the film, visit www.sometimesinlifethemovie.com or www.myspace.com/vallonickafilms.

In addition to "Sometimes in Life", Vallone is also co-producing "Road Kill", a sci-fi/thriller feature, based on the screenplay written by Steve Turner ("Deadwood", "Gilmore Girls"). The first feature from ValloNicka Films, "The Mongol King", also garnered an unusual distinction as one of the five lowest-budget films ever to score a distribution deal. The film, made for only $7,000, was shot for $500 less than Robert Rodriguez’s groundbreaking film "El Mariachi".

"Sometimes in Life" has already been accepted as part of Customflix's 1000 HD DVD Indies Project, sponsored by Microsoft and Amazon.com, and the Sundance Channel will review the film for possible broadcast on their network. Anthony Vallone (right) will also be producing an upcoming film with a producer of "Deadwood" and "Gilmore Girls". Meanwhile, Sara Stepnicka (left) will appear as herself in a forthcoming documentary about women in the film industry.
