Harmonica Shah "Deep Detroit"DETROIT June 26, 2001 –
The Harmonica Shah Blues Band is celebrating the American release of its acclaimed CD, Deep Detroit with a party and performance in the heart of the city on Thursday, July 12 at The Town Pump Tavern.

"Deep Detroit", the first CD to pair legendary Detroit Blues artist Harmonica Shah and guitarist Howard Glazer, has received international praise. John Clark of the London Times said, “just when you think the blues has no more surprises, out springs Harmonica Shah, a fully-rounded performer who’s been blowing and singing for years in Detroit but has had to wait until now to show off his undoubted skills on record.”
First released to an international audience by Bluetrack Records in Oxford, UK in 2000, the album has been praised by music critics worldwide and charted at #14 in April and May 2001 on Living Blues Top 25 Radio Charts (radio airplay).
Blues Alive Magazine out of Tokyo, Japan called it the Best Album of 2000, and the Paul Jones Blues Show on BBC Radio 2 in the United Kingdom ranked it as one of the Best Albums of 2000. It was nominated as the Best Overseas Blues CD of 2000 by Blueprint Magazine, and as Album of 2000 by the British Blues Connection Awards.
This year, Los Angeles-based South Side Records released the album in the U.S., and Harmonica Shah is celebrating the American debut of Deep Detroit with a party and performance:

Thursday, July 12
The Town PumpTavern
100 Montcalm
Detroit
7 p.m. – 2 a.m.
Performance time: 8 p.m.
Open to the Public

Due to the popularity of Deep Detroit overseas, Harmonica Shah and Howard Glazer performed at blues festivals in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and Holland, and at clubs in England, Wales and Greece.
Harmonica Shah is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Detroit Blues Society. In addition to Harmonica Shah, who plays the harp and is the vocalist, band members include guitarist Howard Glazer, bass player Bob Godwin and drummer Pete Tocco.
Deep Detroit is available at Borders Books and Music, Tower Records, Amazon.com and cdnow.com.
