| Dan Vaillancourt Releases Melodic Snapshots |
|
November 15, 2005 (Midland, MI) -- Dan Vaillancourt, a singer
and songwriter from Midland, MI, has released his third record
entitled Melodic Snapshots. The CD contains 9 songs that weave stories of life, love, and travel together with a style that's been described as "funktified folk". Dan combines folk and rootsy blues with jazz and even a dash of hip-hop beat-boxing. Click "read more" below.
"The songs on this album were recorded mosty after
midnight while I was heavily caffeinated," says Dan. "Then many other talented musicians helped me finish during the day. But they'll likely continue to change as I play them and chances are they'll never be the same again.”
A prolific songwriter, Dan Vaillancourt wrote his first song at age fourteen and by the time he finished high school had penned more than 200. He's written over 300 songs to date.
“Most of the songs on my new album were inspired by real
conversations, observations, aspirations and realizations,” he says. Vaillancourt draws on life experiences as well as a bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology and World Religions he recently earned from Central Michigan University to yield fertile material for his lyrics.
Dan cites Paul Simon, Leo Kottke and Nickel Creek as musical influences and uses only a custom 10-stringed guitar for accompaniment. He's taken this one-man show to over a hundred venues in 20 states, playing such legendary venues as Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta and CBGB’s in New York.
