Loveless Declares End to Jam Rag, Re-discovers Music
In an e-mail newsletter dated Oct. 2, 2005, Stephanie Angeline Loveless (formerly Tom Ness) called it quits as editor and publisher of Jam Rag Magazine, a local music periodical produced in Ferndale, Mi.
"... Jam Rag is finished," Loveless declared. "At least for Sue and me. After 20 years, we will do one last edition, and that is it." No word right now on whether Jam Rag will continue to publish without Loveless and Sue......(Ness?)

Adding to her many social and political interests such as The Green Party and trans-gender issues, Loveless is pursuing her music again after a 25 year creative hiatus.

"I've had an explosion of creativity. Songs are just popping out of me now, about one per week," she wrote. "Im really proud, and very much want you to hear them." Lyrics to some of her new songs were included in the newsletter along with a number of dates for live performances at events she'll be speaking and performing.

Loveless is currently recording her new material and will provide CD's at cost for anyone interested in hearing them.

"It's not finished yet, " she wrote. "but...most of the songs relate to the trans experience in one way or another."

Sad to hear Jam Rag is coming to an end. Tom (Loveless) and Sue really supported the music community without becoming a commercial news machine like some of the other mag's. I'm sure the Jam Rag will be missed.

Cudo's to Tom & Sue for all the years of hard work and support of local music......

Tom and Sue did an Awesome job keeping a small paper alive for 20 years... There have been many people who have been blessed by this Magazine and all it stood for in the early days of it's inception... But like all things the lines have been blurred and the paper no longer stands for just music and the great Detroit music scene it helped support.... So I for one am glad to see it go.... I am so tired of these kinds of magazines hiding their underlying, seedy, distorted views under the guise of something good.... Heres to you Tom & Sue and a newly remade Stacy, I wish you the best.... Terry Lee Bolton.
