313.jac hosts Acoustic Throwdown for Jam Rag
On Saturday, September 10th at 9pm, some of Detroit’s up and coming acoustic singer-songwriters will perform to raise money for Jam Rag. Appearing will be The Impaler-Bruce Bryson-Greater Alexander-Brian Blair-Mark and Chaz and a special guest appearance by the publishers, Stephanie and Sue Loveless. Suggested minimum donation is $6. CDs donated by various local music patrons, will also be available for sale with the money donated to the magazine. Click "Read More" below. Jam Rag Magazine has been a music scene fixture in Detroit for the past 20 years. At one time or another just about every local band has been featured in the newsprint pages. One of Detroit’s only music magazines, the free publication has survived on funding from ads, benefits and sustainer donations.

The magazine recently had a long overdue upgrade to a more focused and modern appearance. Even with its’ new outlook the magazine still needs funds to continue publishing. Local music veteran and curator of the Detroit Music Archives- Anison Roberts aka;The Impaler organized a benefit to help the cause. “Musicians need a mag like Jam Rag, it’s like networking without the travel” says organizer, The Impaler.

313.jac is upstairs at Jacoby’s located at 624 Brush St. in Detroit. 21 and over welcome. 313-962-7067.
