 The MB Geocache is Back!
It's summertime again so get out of the basement, garage or woodshed and get some fresh air! What better way to enjoy the outdoors than to go on a treasure hunt for some local music? If you're hip to the technology, you know that geocaching is like treasure hunting using a handheld GPS (global positioning system). It's good, clean, healthy fun for the whole family and especially for those bandmates of yours with the beer-light tans. So get 'em outside and go find some local music. Click "Read More" below for links and more information.

Your Mission Should You Choose To Accept It

We've stashed nine local CD's in a container out in the woods at an Oakland County Park and it's your mission to go find it and take one for yourself! Visit our geocaching page for the lattitude and longitude, plug them into your handheld GPS and off you go! You can also bring one of your band's CD's to leave in the cache so somebody can discover your music. It's not required, but it will help keep the geocache going and spread the love of local music. Be sure to sign the log book too. When you're done, put the cache back where you found it and go enjoy the rest of the park. There's golfing and a "bark park" at this particular location so bring the clubs or bring your pooch.

In additioin to posting the new location of the MB cache at our geocache page, I'll also be posting it at as "Indie Cache 2" at Geocaching.com and MI-geocaching.org so the general public can discover locally produced Michigan music for themselves.

How Do I Get Started?

If you're new to geocaching and don't currently have a hand-held GPS and would like to try it for the first time, I suggest you purchase a used one through Amazon or eBay. There's hundreds for sale of all makes and models from around $50 to $100. New units can cost between $100 and $1000 depending on the complexity of the device. You can get a new Garmin eTrex for around a hundred bucks. You can find hand-held GPS units at most sporting goods stores and sporting goods departments at the Big Boxes like Meijer, WalùMart, Best Buy, etc. Oh, you can also transform you pocket pc or palm or even turn your laptop into a GPS.

You can get the coordinates of the MB cache by visiting our Geocache Page.

You can read more about Geocaching at Geocaching.com.

You can visit the Michigan Geocaching Organization (or MiGo as it's known) by visiting mi-geocaching.org/.

Good luck and happy hunting! - Mitch

Two more adventurous spirits, "WeeElvis" and "Danklos", have found the MB's Geocache, otherwise known at Geocaching.com as Indie Cache 2 [www.geocaching.com].

If you don't have time to get out to the cache to drop your cd off, but you'd like to participate, send your CD's to:
