 It's an Outright Country Resurgence
by: Larry Garcia - DetroitCountryMusic.com

It's been a wild March for the Country Music community here in the Detroit Area. FOUR area bars have decided to switch format to either part time or FULL time Country Music, making it the biggest growth spurt for western twang in several years.

Warren's Hot Rock on Hoover road will see the Rock & Roll signs come down on March 13th to make way for it's new persona as "The Rhinestone Cowboy". The club which has it's roots in Country Music as the Hoover Roadhouse has maintained it's country line dancing for nearly 15 years. Now going full time for the cowboy hats and spurs the bar will feature live music weekly and is looking to promote some regional and national shows in the impressive venue. Lots of new interior features and new carpet will help to change the image of the bar from it's hard core rock roots. Bands of DetroitCountryMusic.com will provide the entertainment. What had been a Hamtramck mainstay for many a year, the Outer Limits Bar on Caniff has become Horan's Country Club. With it's big kickoff slated for St. Patrick's day with six bands playing all day long and ending the night with "Crossroads" featuring Tom Baker. Regulars of the new bar will also receive "Country Club Membership Cards" providing additional perks for the club.

The Big Chill in Warren at Schoehnner and I-96 welcomes "The Cajun Band" as their new house band providing high steppin' cover and original tunes with new Cajun singer Robin Young. The Big Chill makes three new full time country bands in the area.

We promised you four, so here we go. The HAYLOFT in Mt. Clemens will be offering LIVE country music on Saturdays beginning April 2nd. First band up will be Terrie Lea and the Mustangs with bands following every Saturday night thereafter.

Let's not forget the two mainstays of country in town. In Pontiac, we have the High Kicker on Kennett Road and in Belleville the world famous Diamondback Saloon. These two have kept it country through thick and thin and deserve a lot of credit for the shows they have put on...
