TheRedhead writes RIP: LARRY A. TAYLOR:
Born 8-8-53 Died 2-17-05
I got home today to find out that my favorite dancing bass player Larry "The Mole" Taylor from my main band Alibi had died today. Larry had moved back to Indiana to care for his mom who passed away in December.
Alibi did not do many gigs in the city being as they were based way up north, but earned the respect of those they did meet. So I'm asking you to raise a Diet Coke (one of Larry's regular drinks) or your own favorite and maybe play some Skynyrd or some old Kansas in his honor.Posted by bandmate and guitarist Kurt Pankau:
"Hi everyone! I hate to be the bringer of bad news again. I must have been the grim reaper in another life! Well anyways. Larry Taylor passed away today. Any of you who knew him knew he was a great person to those he felt close to. He served in Viet Nam war in 1970, when he was 18 and fresh out of high school. He didn't like to be the center of attention. All and all he will be greatly missed by me and his family. He was a good friend and always had your back when you needed him. We didn't see eye to eye on some things but who the hell does these days. Some things Larry liked: Lynard Skynard, ZZ Top, Kansas, Victor Wooten (Bass player for Bela Fleck and The Flecktones) riding his motorcycle, golf, flying and eating hostess lemon pies with milk. "Take care my friend." If you get a chance today put on Lynyrd Skynrd's "Free Bird" in remeberance of him, that was one of his favorite songs. I talked to his wife this morning they are planning on showing him today in Richmond Indiana and the funeral maybe this Saturday. When I know more I will post it. Take care everyone"
Larry was our former bassist and a driving force behind Alibi for what seemed like a lifetime, but was not nearly long enough. We love you Mole! I'll raise a Diet Coke in your honor tonight!
