Serendipitous Gem from Kilkenny
Occassionally I'll listen to music samples while I'm adding events to the calendar, waiting to hear something that really gets me off. It's rare that it happens, but when it does I can't wait to share it with everyone.
When Kilkenny posted their gig at The Hayloft, I noticed their URL wasn't the one listed with our site. When I visited their old page, I happened upon the gem "Marvin" (download here). Rare alternative smack that makes you want to dye your hair blue, tear holes in your clothes, stick safety-pins through your nose and dig out your old Violent Femmes and Wall Of VooDoo records. The kids call it Garage, I call it Killer stuff. -

By Badynee: Another Laffing Gas Gig @ Lili's
Chris Badynee is back with memories of Lili and another stream of consciousness piece about the thrills, spills and chills of living improvisational joy in "Another Laffing Gas gig at Lili's."
'For some reason, my bass sounds RANK today, so i move to beating the body like a conga, and slamming my fist near the strings. I get a low WHOOOOOOOOOP BAP! WHOOOOOOOOOOP BAP-A-DAP!'

Ty Stone: Mojave Marinoia & The Desert Dream
Our muse on the road, Ty Stone, has returned with a tale about getting out of L.A. for a while, driving deep into the Mojave Desert to meet a total stranger in the dark (wondering if he's going to come back alive) and, if all goes well, returning to L.A. with a music video in hand. But Ty finds more than he bargained for in the mysterious desert where Jim Morrison ate peyote buds and wrote surreal poetry. Click "Read More" for a homeboy's southwest desert adventure.

DannyD Kicks Godsmack's Butt!
Here's an interesting little tidbit for you. A solo artist from Clarkston has made the top 100 charts for the USA at MP3.com.

DannyD, a pop vocalist from Clarkston Michigan, holds the #57 slot on the top 100 chart for the United States on MP3.com as of the writing of this article. A sizable accomplishment considering that he bested such notables as Weezer, Linkin Park, Sugar Ray and Madonna.

It has been MP3c's policy of late to offer songs by top national artists such as Nelly, Sheryl Crow and the aforementioned. What started as a site dedicated to the unsigned artist has undergone a metamorphosis. The site is now dominated by RIAA's poster children.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for unsigned artists to compete on MP3c, and that makes this accomplishment all the more amazing.

Visit DannyD on MP3.com. Download the tune "Didn't See Me" if you want to help out the local talent.
