 Random Reviews: Section One
Artist - Section One
Song - Make No Mistake

Smashcore brats Section One from Lansing prove that there must be a collective unconscious as Carl Jung professed almost a hundred years ago. What other explanation could there be for this band sounding exactly like a thousand other bands I've had the misfortune of hearing? Ok, ok. It's angry, it's loud, it's "bassy," it's what happens when you piss-off a whole generation of young men by pretending they don't exist. So ROOOOOOOAAAAAR!!!!!!

 Random Reviews - Mystic Shake
Band - Mystic Shake
Song - Can't Believe

Mystic Shake describe their music as, "Festive music for kids of all ages." The Calypso-infused "Can't Believe," which describes a romantic moment interrupted by a naked corpse (listen if you want the gory details), makes you want to kick off your shoes, weild your fruity umbrella drink, and dance in the sandy beaches of your subconscious. This is Carribbean Cruise music that makes you feel silly. Mystic Shake reminds us that sometimes music should be pure, unadulterated fun.

 XTC by Mod Ev
Finally, "Distortion" Dave Kupczak has delivered on his long awaited review of Mod Ev's "XTC." Over a year in the making (the review, not the CD), Kupczak has followed the band from hang-over hovels to the Harleyfest to bring you a distillation of his experience of this hard, loud and heavy Detroit band.  Random Reviews - Mopular Flux
Band: Mopular Flux
Song: Open the door

How do you get attention from the music-sucking masses when you're a frustrated musician from Rockwood, MI? Why, you paint your face like a dead clown, put on your girlfriend's angora sweater, strap on a 'git-tar' and strike a pose! This short instrumental-rock Jam from Mopular Flux is perfect for all you duck-walkin, guitar-strokin', bedroom-sheltered clowns out there. It's just plain freaky - Mitch

Review: Angel's Playground by David Berriman
Reviewer Chris Ventzke gives you the details behind David Berriman's Angels Playground:

"David gives us an expression of his personal nature in a soft, sentimental and eclectic collection of non-accompanied music...Bereft of the driving rythm section and flailing guitars..."

 Random Reviews: Overthrow
It's unfortunate many bands don't update their Michiganbands.com pages more often. You never know when some schmuck with a keyboard and a title (e.g. "Editor") will visit the Homepage and click on the "Random Artist" button only to find out a band didn't post their best material. But fair is fair in Random Reviews. Come to find out "War is Pollution", but pollution is just discarded crap that nobody wants.

 Jackie Blue
Anonymous writes "First thing first, The "Behind Me" photo rules, what a cool idea and cd name. Jackie Blue has done the impossible with this debut masterpiece. This Detroit "Funk n Roll" party train formed recently in May 2000. WOW! They kept their costs low by virtually doing "EVERYTHING" themselves(Recording, Mixing, Mastering, Publishing, etc...), not to mention in such a short time frame.

This cd plain out rocks "start to finish". Original music at its finest. Bands should take notice and follow this pace. Nothing in this cd is lost, the recording is proffessional, all songs are solid, endless efforts displayed from each member.

Jackie Blue obviously brings many years of experience to the drawing board. Songs like "Detroit Queen" & "G" shine more talents than most of there influences(Lenny Kravitz, Korn, Sly & the Family Stone, Aerosmith, Pretenders). These songs will leave you singing over & over for days.

What a band biography. Guitar player becomes drummer, bass player becomes guitar player, shows in New York City, Detroit, Ohio, full length cd, websites, etc... accomplishments never ending. All this within a year???

Todd Laucombe playes the drums like nobody's business, hard hitting, solid, demanding non stop wreckage. Tom Fiziks bass lines bother the soul, nicely tweaked, extremely smooth, fast paced perfection. Chip Thomas will take you places you've only imagined on guitar. Guitar solo's that screams over-indulgence, mean rhythm's, & structured timing. Its a beautiful thing. Brent McKay's heart felt vocals offer melodic sweetness & endless attitude. Dave Mathews Band your days are numbered, there's a new group in town called Jackie Blue.

The entire cd is fun, a fine choice for partying loudly too, or perhaps vaccuming the house. Buy this cd its a big thumbs up. Retro-Flavored Power Pop/Rock funk at its finest. Siskel & Ebert would be proud. Warning, Track Listings: Detroit Queen, Shame, G, Daylight, Jackie, I.B.Waltz Virginia, Another Day, Channel 5, Free Me, & Forget Slow, may stunt your growth and induce labor."

 Random Reviews: Loadstone

Admit it. You really don't care.

Loadstone warms you up to their precarious mood with an innocuous groove and understated complaints, then slams your head against the garage door again and agian until you admit, to God and all present that "Nobody Notices" or really gives a damn when you're having a lousy day.
