| Review: The Sax Maniacs (2-song EP) |
|
You never know what mood somebody's going to be in when they get ahold of your CD. Unfortunately for The Sax Maniacs, Mitch quit smoking this week so he's even less amused by novelty than usual.
'Two years ago, Producer/Saxophonist David Daniele treated us to his U of M Dearborn Diversity CD which featured a vast array of local independent talent on one disc...This time around, Daniele is peddling his own wares with his cover band, The Sax Maniacs (know what I mean? nudge-nudge, wink-wink). ~Groan~.'

| CD Review: Audra Kubat's ''Untitled For Now'' |
|
Even though he's been accused of going "soft" by his wife, Mitch explains his recent fixation with Audra Kubat's "UNTITLED for now". In another lengthy review, Mitch writes...
'..Like taking SeconalŪ through my ears, Kubat's music makes me want to curl up like a cat in a window box on a cool, autumn afternoon.'
Barbituate references aside, two of Kubat's folk/pop gems have been included for your listening pleasure (hope you have a cable modem or better- but well worth the download if not). Click "Read More" below.

| Review of The Grins: ''Coffee Grounds'' |
|
There's always something refreshing about a band that doesn't take itself too damn seriously. One of three discs to be released this year by The Grins, "Coffee Grounds" offers nine tracks of their usual free-wheeling, freaky-dancing fare and two pop gems (included) worthy of your digital playlist. | Review: Harmony Park - Noteworthy demo |
|
After weeks of listening and hours of gut-wrenching critique, Mitch finally delivers his review of Harmony Park's "Noteworthy" CD - a thirteen-song demo that references past sounds as diverse as Styx, Kansas, Dream Theatre, Yes and the band that put art-deco into art-rock, The Miami Sound Machine. Huh? The Miami Sound Machine? Yup. Read on. . .

Editor, reviewer, and now bona fide Radiocraft fan, Mitch Phillips reviews their extraordinary debut, [IN STEREO]. | CD Review: Full - Part of Religion EP |
|
If you'd rather pound tent-spikes into your ears with a five-pound sledge-hammer than listen to another grindcore, power-pop or Creed-clone indie band that wants to wow you into submission, don't pick up that hammer just yet. With the release of Full's four-song "Part of Religion" promotional EP, there may yet be hope that experimentation isn't a lost art.

| Life: After The Movie - Storm Records |
|
Though it's been a long time coming, the "Life: After The Movie" compilation from Storm Records of Royal Oak finally made it's way out of Mitch's CD player and into his computer for a review.
'I really had no idea what a wealth of great punk bands we had in the Detroit area until I heard this disc. I felt like I'd just crawled out from beneath my own sheltered rock (my office) to discover punk for the very first time.'

| Review: Jupiter Avenue / Self-Titled |
|
I was approached by someone via e-mail who duped me into sending him a copy of Jupiter Avenue's self-titled sophomore release to do a review. After weeks of waiting and a few specious e-mails saying he'd already posted his review and / or he's send it again via e-mail (then where the f*ck is it?) I've decided to do what I should have done in the first place - write it myself. It's so hard to find good, free help these days.

| Review: ''All The Way From Allen St'' |
|
The Memorial Day hangover is gone, the sunburn is peeling and I finally got some writing done - though un-blocking felt like pulling my own teeth. Please excuse the non-sequiturs. I've been listening to Reagan?'s "All The Way From Allen St." for over a week now and this record is getting under my skin. The music's light, airy and a soothing soundtrack for a summer that's finally in bloom. Click "Read More" for the review.
