 Michiganbands.com, A Prequel: Funkilinium @ JW's
Since prequels are all the rage, here's a review I wrote almost a year ago about an outfit called Funkilinium. This was before Michiganbands.com was up and running, before September 11th, before the Stanley Cup. I never published it because I could never get ahold of the band based on the information I'd scribbled on a bar napkin. Then yesterday, a new member by the nickname of "GT" posted on Michiganbands.com forum to promote his band - you guessed it, Funkilinium. God, it seems longer than a year.

 Aceldama & Silence Erebus @ The I-Rock 11.6.02
review by The Kat
Being a fan of Swedish Rock, an out of town friend and I ventured out to the I-Rock last week to see a tiny female put death metal men to shame fronting the band Arch Enemy. Sworn Enemy from NJ (a rap-metal ho-hum) and God Forbid from CA (an excellent Zombie like death metal band) were the openers but the surprise for me was seeing two very talented MICHIGAN BANDS; Silence Erebus & Aceldama . . .

 83rd Dream @ Wooden Nickel
Kat's on the prowl again. Though it's recently been announced that The Wooden Nickel has gone country again, Kat caught what may have been one of the last hard rock shows at the Ypsi venue last Thursday night including performances from 83rd Dream (who've dominated the top spot in hottest band links, by fate or design) and Red Edison. Oh, and if you happen to meet Kat out there in the trenches, buy her a drink. She's working for the love of independent music. Click "Read More".

His and Hers Live Reviews: Mixxle Plix @ The Token
It doesn't happen often, but it does happen (just don't bet on it happening again any time soon). We have not one, but two reviews (his & hers) of the same show at The Token Lounge last Saturday. The Kat and Distortion Dave give their independent reviews of a M.A.M.A. Productions show featuring Miixxle Plixx. Here's a hint: Sounds like somebody might be looking for a new job soon. . . Click "Read More" for the reviews.

Review: Bubby Jackson @ Breaktime Billiards
Though he's actually from Maryland (you know, where you have to wear a flak jacket when you go to the gas station?), we adopted blues breaker Bubby Jackson as a Michigan musical refugee until things chill out down there. Actually, Marla Swartz, the brains, beauty and business behind Eldar Entertainment is letting Bubby crash on her couch for the time being. She even lent him some local talent to keep his chops up until he can one day return to "The Old Line State."
"Read More" about Mitch's meeting Kat and their first-set reviews of Bubby Jackson at Breaktime Billiards in Novi.

 Review: Space Nelson @ Boulders
You've seen her posts as Kat or DetroitKat on Detroitmusic, now you can read her live reviews right here on Michiganbands.com. We sent Kat out to see Space Nelson at Boulders to catch their money-gig (sorry we missed your CD release party guys). Click "Read More" for the review.

Review: Riot In Progress & The Machine Shop
Mitch caved-in to his suburban guilt and made the 47 mile drive to Flint to see Riot In Progress open for national artists The Buzzhorn and Injected at The Machine Shop. Well, he nearly missed RIP, ignored the major-label artists and instead got drunk with Jesus and joined him in drooling over the barmaids in this mother of Hard Rock bars. Oh, and he has a theory about saving Flint from it's financial woes too. (Click the pic above for a larger image.)

 Grace Introduces The Klaver Project
graceiam writes

When I first the boys in The Klaver Project they were our special impromtu guests at a show we did at Mt. Chalet, in Royal Oak. We performed there one Sunday a month for several months, to a house-full of very loving, and generous, familiar-faces. My drummer, Michael J. Kora, and my pianoman/arranger, Lucky Joe Neely, had 'another band' and they wanted us all to meet. The very first 'sit-in' was a magical moment, as Klaver's lead vocalist, Reggie Smith, and I found harmony a natural occurance between us.
