Show Review: White Stripes @ The Masonic
SonicDisturbance writes
If Hendrix, Clapton, Randy Rhodes, Eddie Van Halen or Jimmy Page or on your short list of favorite guitar players, stop reading now. If Neil Peart or Stewart Copeland are your favorite drummers, see above. If Geddy Lee, Stanley Clarke or Billy Sheehan are your favorite bass players . . well you get the picture.
Now for the rest of us; or those who can appreciate a good show with out Mega Shredder Solos, click "Read More" for a review of The White Stripes at The Masonic Temple.

Review: Mango Pie @ The Arena 1-25-03
review by Kat

In my search for local hard rock, another visit to The Arena in Highland (Milford Rd. N of M59) resulted in an excellent surprise. Mango Pie gets my vote for best party band of the year so far. An excellent selection of covers and originals kept the crowd going till well past 2am. This is no small feat for the Arena where the normal crowd of local transients that drift in and out rarely exceeds 20 people at a time. But on Saturday, everyone who wandered in stayed and became riveted like my companion and I. And the drinks were flowing . . .

 January 18th show. BIG hit
ponygrrl writes
January 18th was amazing at Maggies. A lot of people showed up, and the bands played absolutely great shows. Half The Battle was up first and they ROCKED. Jon-the frontman for the band-sang his f*ing heart out. And he even was so into it, he couldnt stay on stage. You can find out more about the band and their up and coming tour at HalfTheBattle.net.

 Blind Pig 1-9-03
WWghost writes Not only is Mitch demanding more submissions, but now other MB users are as well; someone must have spotted me taking notes at The Blind Pig a couple weeks ago, because when they didn't see my review here, they decided to confront me about it. After being threatened with bodily harm, I made a frantic search for those scribblings and finally wrote up a review. So here are some words about Four Years Gone, I Decline and Inner Recipe, all of whom gave Ann Arbor's Blind Pig a generous dose of raw Rock and Roll. Click "Read More" for wwghost's review.

Show review: Seduce @ Emerald Theater
wiki writes Mt. Clemens 12/26/02 - Once again, Seduce kicked ass! Not as many people in attendance like the September Reunion show, but still a pretty good showing. The first act, 60 Second Crush rocked the house. I dug 'em. They got the crowd worked up pretty good. Wicked Wish was the 2nd act and didn't seem to catch the eye of the crowd. Everyone was there to see Seduce and at one point, the guitarist from WW was yelling into themic to get some crowd response. Click "Read More" for WIKI's full review.

 Kilkenny @ The Hayloft 11/30/02
Sold on the quality of Kilkenny's gem, "Marvin", Mitch drags Napoleon K and his brother Ruo out to Mt. Clemens to check out the alt/rock duet's live show and to escape nicotine withdrawl by breathing bar-air. Mitch writes, 'Surprisingly, the urge for a Marlboro didn't increase. There are benefits to second-hand smoke, after all. Who knew?' Click "Read More" for his review.

 Michigan Metalfest Review
We should have known that Kat would show up at The Michigan Metal Showcase at the Carriage House last Saturday. We just can't keep her away from the "hard stuff." Lucky for us, she writes it all down on a bar-napkin before she goes home that night- not so much to keep us informed, but to have a record of events just in case there's any question as to her whereabouts on any given night. Short-term memory is for whimps! Click "Read More" for Kat's take on the Michigan Metalfest.

 Review: Grace @ Dino's
Written loosely in the pulp fiction style of Mickey Spillane, Mitch Phillips creates the character "Woodward Dick" to review the jazz stylings of Grace and The Boys at Dino's in Ferndale.

'Her voice was as smooth and inviting as her silk stockings. Not just any stockings, mind you, but high-quality hose with hand-stitched seams running from the back of her ankles up to secret places that beg for private investigation. . . '
