 Random Reviews - Lophoria
Band - Lophoria
Song - Waiting

Back in my day, you dragged a few of your friends along into the garage, pieced together as much second-hand and borrowed equipment you could lay your hands on and bashed-out your first song based on whatever spastic modal inventions happened to ooze from your inflated, guitar-weilding ego. Getting that first tune down was an event, and the tune would haunt you with delusions of grandeur and promises of your inevitable success. I just don't remember the music being so depressing. Remember people, keep your firearms locked away from your teenagers.

Random Reviews - Bob Clark & The Late Fees
Artist: Bob Clark & The Late Fees
Song: It's Boxing Day"

Want to hear something weird and completely original? Listen to "It's Boxing Day" from Permanent Brain Freeze. This strange, stream of consciousness piece by the self-described ' 4-Track Rock & Roll guys in suburban Detroit' is decidedly low-quality, low-budget and low-brow - but it'll probably bring at least a cheezy smirk to your face. My daughter Emily thinks the back-up vocalist sounds like "Larry The Cucumber" from Veggie Tales. She's dead-on. But what it has to do with boxing is anybody's guess.

Random Reviews - Celestial Harp and Flute
Artist: Celestial Harp & Flute
Song: And So On

I feel like a naked, dancing wood-nymph after listening to "Celestial Harp & Flute," the instrumental duo of DL Turner (harpist and composer) and Nancy Ruth Holtzman (flautist). Although the sound sample's only forty seconds long, for a half-minute there I was prancing through a field of daisies and pondering the transcendent beauty of God's creation.
Specializing in weddings and formal occassions, "Celestial Harp & Flute" can make your special occassion, as one happy customer put it, 'sound like the angels (are) descending from heaven.' I wish I'd had 'em at my wedding, but I'm not sure Elvis would have appreciated it.

Random Reviews - Elad's Guitar Army
Band: Elads Guitar Army
Song: Drop The Gloves

Manic, fast and furious, ELADS GUITAR ARMY cuts through the bullshit and defies you to "Drop The Gloves" in this first track from their 1999 release, "Rock & Roll Circus." Citing influences from the MC5, The Stooges, The Rolling Stones and The Clash, the Guitar Army describe themselves as, 'Fast powerful rock & roll influenced from the late 60s and early punk. Big bad loud and fast!.' This unadulterated guitar bop is perfect "wake-up, turn-up and warn-the-world -you're-coming" music. Their 2001 release, "Rattlesnake Tongue" is reported to be bigger, badder, louder and faster.

O'Bryan Reports on Wrenfields Return To Memphis Smoke
The show went great tonight. Neil (soundman) recorded us on CD so we have a good reference of the show. An interesting version of 21st Century Pioneer I must say...
The B-Man had his wackiness elevated with a giveaway promotion called the "Hay Play in May Giveaway". We gave away a lifetime's supply of pork rinds (microwavable), an antique washboard made in Memphis, an Elvis laminated clock, a bull skull with matching horns and a gift certificate for dinner at Memphis Smoke. The crowd really went nuts during the prizes and Playmate Kimberly Spicer was the B-Man's Vanna...We did the whole promotion during a middle break of a Wilco song "Casino Queen".
The guy who won the gift certificate proposed to his girlfriend during the second half of our set!
On to the big news...We just got booked for the Dearborn Homecoming which is Dearborn's City festival. We are opening for Tony Orlando!!! I'm not sure yet if Dawn will be there. We're playing August 4th from 6pm to 8pm.
We got hooked up with the Farmington Festival and I have a meeting next week with the Chamber of Commerce in Pontiac to hopefully get us booked at Arts, Beats and Eats and the Woodward Dream Cruise. Lots going on.

Thanks again to Michiganbands.com.
Talk to you soon!
