 New Flipping the Pig Album
fthep writes "The new Flipping The Pig album, Pout, was released on January 2, 2006. There are three MP3s available on the band's website (www.flippingthepig.com): the melancholy piano-based "Break," the dreamy acoustic pop of "Don't Dry Your Eyes," and the stripped-down power chord rant of the much-louder-than-the-other-two-mp3s "Pleeeeease." The music is a mix of vaudeville, brooding acoustic numbers, power pop, wry humor, reflection, folk, oddities, art-rock leanings, and whatever else this one-man-band feels like creating. He's stone-cold sober, but you’d swear he was drunk at least some of the time."

 Silent Aggression is back
silentaggression writes "Silent Aggression has undergone a huge line-up change. The new band is getting ready to start playing out again. The band has changed 3 members ; Silent aggression has a new guitarist, a new drummer, and the old drummer now is playing bass. The new band has worked real hard to get the material down, and is stronger than ever. There is a show scheduled for January 14 at the Trolley Stop in Taylor. This is going to be the first show with the new lineup. We are expecting a great turnout."

 OOPS! #^@&*! Webmaster
If you are wondering why your band link submission has not be added to our site, then here is the scoop.

I was doing some work on the system a few weeks ago and forgot to match my data update querry string with additional fields that I had added to the new link data table. In laymans terms I f**ked up the submission function.

Anyway, it's fixed now and we do still love you!

Many thanks to Jennifer with Strangers with Candy for bringing this to my attention.

 Short Notice For Seminar
We got late notice from Larry Garcia of www.DetroitCountryMusic.com about a seminar that will be held today (12-09-05). The seminar is being put together by Ron Chatman, Music Director at WYCD. One of the panel experts will be a promotions exec from Mercury Nashville Records. The seminar will cover the topic "How to get a record deal". Keep in mind that this is an opportunity for all music genres, not just country artists. A copy of the original note is below. If you have further questions, you can email Larry at Larry@DetroitCountryMusic.com.

"I know this is short notice, but I am hosting a seminar at Wayne County Community College District's Western Campus [12-09-05] afternoon at 2pm. The name of the seminar is "How To Get A Record Deal" and will also have a promotions exec for Mercury Nashville Records on the panel as well as Mercury Nashville recording artist Julie Roberts. I think it will be of interest to a number of your folks. Please have as many attend as you can reach...the seminar is free. The campus is 9555 Haggerty Road ... taking the Haggerty exit on I-94 and heading north is the easiest way to get there."

 Maps To Venues Now Available
I've added a "Maps To Venues" category under the Menu box (upper left hand side of main page). These are links to Verizon's Superpages maps for many of the venues that have appeared in our calendar submissions. As well as a map to the venue listed, the pages also list the phone numbers, a brief description and sometimes inlcude a link to the venue's home page. We'll try to coordinate it with our calendar submission form and add more venues later on, but for now I hope you find it useful.
