| Buy an ad...Get the girl. |
|
Did you know that for a measly twenty-five bucks you can have a side-banner ad-rotator spot for fifteen days? You might not think that's a big deal, but the fact is that everybody who visits Michiganbands.com is going to be exposed to your band's name, your logo, or your new release. Getting hits isn't really the point. Name recognition is the point. The more a person sees, hears or reads your bands name increases the odds that that person will come see your show or buy a CD. So make sure she'll know who your band is when you drop a line on her. Hell, we'll even waive the banner creation fee this month to help you out. Contact the Webmaster if you have questions about advertising with MB.

| Harmony House to Close For Good |
|
After serving Michigan music consumers for 55 years, Harmony House will be closing it's doors for good. Company executives cite slipping sales, internet music piracy and the encroachment of big-block entertainment stores according to a report on local news. Twenty-two stores, employing over 200 people will be closed by year's end.
One thing the local news did not mention, however, is how it will effect local artists, many of whom depend on Harmony House as an essential part of their local distribution scheme.
Here's your chance to get involved. Use the "Comments" button below to tell us how you feel about the closing of Harmony House.

| Net Radio Marked for Extinction |
|
According to an article that appeared in the July 15th issue of Newsweek ("Labels to Net: Die Now" by Steven Levy), as of October 21, 2002 government imposed "performance fees" will put independent web-casting radio stations out of business. Heavily influenced by recording industry pressure, the new royalty fee recommended to The U.S. Copyright Office back in Feb. 2002 would make it virtually impossible for small, independent Net Radio stations to exist.
