 Gary Jibilian: NAMM Survivor
Stickest Gary Jibilian escaped a Michigan snow storm to attend the Winter NAMM show and play some gigs around Annaheim, CA back in January '04. Along the way he "discovered" a helpful celebrity host, played a gig at "14-Below" ("brrrrrr...."), did two impressions of Beavis & Butthead in order to secure some drum cases, was 'bombarded' by musical gods (including Steve Vai, Bill Bruford, Joe Satriani, Stu Hamm and many more), nearly got hired by Donald Trump (unbeknownst to Trump), and learned that no matter how cool you think your instrument is, you will always lose to a couple of scantily clad Dean Guitar girls. Click "Read More" below for links to Gary's NAMM adventure.

Amazon Blonde Website Up and Running
Amazon Blonde's new website is up and running. The site was created by "Black Jack" of Indiefan.com and is based on the familiar php framework of his site and MB. In addition to the latest Amazon Blonde news and polls the site also includes a "Blonde Joke 'O The Week", a photo gallery and a forum they've dubbed "The Player's Ball" that's ready for your friendly posts. Amazon Blode's includes Vladimir Tovbin on guitar, Todd Shanahan on drums, Jason Smith on bass and someone you may recognize as an MB regular - it's Britney Bockelman, formerly of Vincent Vega.

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) has posted its list of winners for 2003. The ISC received over 11,000 entries from 60 countries and awarded $100,000 in cash and prizes for 13 categories. In only its second year, the ISC boasts over twenty high-profile sponsors including The Berklee College of Music, Erni Ball, Sennheiser and mega-star judges including Rob Thomas, BB King, Nile Rogers, Pat Methany and many others industry pros. The '03 Grand Prize went to New Zealand diva Moana Maniapoto who took the Grand Prize with her song, "Moko" a world-beat number which explains the Maori tradition of tribal tatooing. Though Michigan was woefully underrepresented in the competition, two local names did appear as semi-finalists...

 THE DISH W/ BIGSEXY 2-15-04
bigsexysoundman writes After a long hiatus 'The Dish' is back and it feels good. Man, there's so much to tell you all about,so here we go! Had a good start to the new year with the B.R.I.C.K. show at The Emerald. It was the first show put together by the Detroit Choppers and they did a great job, special props to Mike at the choppers. I had a blast, I mixed all the bands and everybody kicked ass. Some things that stood out were Critical Bill's monster stage show and Killin the Norm adding a dj. It's always good to take it to the next level if you can do it right and both did. And of course Koyl, Behind Every Smile, Ink Vine and Riot In Progress all gave noteworthy perfomances. It was a night of some of Detroit's best headliners... Click "Read More" below.
