 Penumbrae Releases One Way Drive
penumbrae writes " Melodic rockers Penumbrae recently finished their debut full length release, One Way Drive, to be released on Third Monk Records Saturday, May 21st.

In August 2004, Penumbrae began working with Third Monk producer/engineer Jeff Robinson (Toad the Wet Sprocket, American Music Club, The Rembrandts). Recording commenced at Ferndale's famed Tempermill Studios in September and finished in the spring of 2005. To retain the depth and warmth of their live sound, Robinson and the band recorded the basic tracks on analog tape, overdubbing digitally and then mixing down to analog masters. "

Whitey Morgan and The Waycross Georgia Farmboys
Mitch writes "Torque, that beast of a wrench-head I work with, was just telling me yesterday that out of his original circle of yoopers, he's the only one who still listens to rock and roll. The rest of the wild bunch listen almost exclusively to country music now. He qualified that confession by calling it "country rock", the way southerners qualify all flavors of soda with "Coke"; cherry coke, orange coke, lemon coke, etc... Click "Read More" below."

 Hush "Bulletproof" on Geffen
Mitch writes "Most of us here on MB knew that local hip-hop artist HUSH got signed to Geffen Records last year, but now his major label debut, "Bulletproof" will be officially released on May 17th, 2005. The recording will feature tracks with Eminem, D12, Nate Dogg & Talib KWFLI. 9,000,000 American t.v. viewers have already been getting a taste of HUSH (whether they knew it or not) as the bumper music on NBC's reality boxing show "The Contender". That's the beauty of having a major player in your corner - it's all about product placement baby.

Check Him Out before the HUSH becomes the hype."

 CMT/NSAI Song Contest Finalists Announced
ralston writes ""Grand Rapids own, Ralston Bowles was among the final 60 selected from the thousands who entered Country Music Television and The Nashville Songwriters Association 5th Annual Song Competition.

This marks the second time in the past 6 months Ralston has received the nod from Nashville having his song "Son of Mine" place first ( winning a baby Martin guitar and having the lyrics published ) in Nov/Dec Issue of American Songwriter Magazine.

The 2004 contest drew about 6,000 entries, according to NSAI marketing director Virginia Davis. The publishing prize, she says, "allows them to get their foot in the door and allows their publisher to work their winning song for a year.""
