Since Henry Paulson, Chris Cox, George Bush, Ben Bernanke & The U.S. Congress have arranged to deliver the contents of the U.S. Treasury to the banking industry, with no danger of ever providing the people with what they really need (i.e. education, jobs, housing, health care & infrastructure), I think it perfectly appropriate to introduce our next band link submission in the Original Artists/ Modern Rock category. Bank Heist consists of the duo Matt Besuden (Vocals, Guitar) and Ted Cikowski (Vocals, Guitar, Synths) who count among their influences such electronic music progenitors as Kraftwerk, Joy Division, New Order, Juan Atkins and....Del Shannon?...(ok, apparently Shannon's keyboardist invented the Musitron - an early synthesizer). According to Bank Heist's myspace page, they've been creating pop music since the early nineties and have released one CD. They're currently in the process of creating an offical webpage (www.bankheist.org) but until that's up and running, you can listen to a track called "Green Light" on their myspace page. - Mitch

MsBehavin' describes itself as a party band who plays everything from classic rock to modern rock to country and blues - making them our latest band link in the Cover Bands / Variety category. The band consists of Michelle Lauka on lead vocals, Mike Pritchard on lead and rhythm guitars, Al Mangani on bass and guitars and Nick Vincentini on drums. Their stated goal is to make sure every room is rockin' and everybody's having a great time. Don't believe it? MsBehavin' invites you to stop on by wherever they're playing, grab some party beads and have a shot with the band. The shot's for your nerves and to your health. The beads are for, well, MsBehavin'.

Methlab is dangerous. Methlab is loud. Methlab is the latest addition to our band links section in the Original Artists / Hardcore & Metal category. They sound just as pissed-off, violent, insane and unpredictable as you might expect a band who is named after something so toxic and illegal. They're every parent's nightmare and every club-owner's headache - and everything you'd want in a hardcore band from Waterford (which is dangerously close to Pontiac). Unfortunately, being good at what you do doesn't always win you friends and influence people. So, Methlab is in need of gigs. If they promise not to break all your shit, could Aaron, Mikey, Joey and Davey come and play some songs for you? They've got a real fast n' nasty one called "No Joke, No Soul" on their myspace page. - Mitch

SRP calls itself, 'an old fashioned ass kicking rock n' roll show' and they're our latest addition to the Original Artists / Hard Rock category of our Band Links section. SRP believes in the spectacle of Rock N Roll and having a good time. This Ferndale area band includes local rock veterans Fred Milner (vocs/guitar) Kevin "Kave" Cavanaugh (drums/vocals), Darryl Benson (sound & light), Brian "Woody" Wood (bass, vocals) and Shawn Allendorf (lead guitar, vocs) who's played with such local notables as Benny & The Jets, Mariner and Mitch Ryder. The title cut from their most recent release, titled "Just For Fun", is now available on iTunes. It's a good-time, bar-thumpin' locally-produced tune and a bargain at 99 cents.

While Repugnicon presidential candidate John McCain sings "bomb, bomb, bomb......bomb, bomb, IRAN" to salivating American defense contractors and fear-mongered voters who still see Islamic terrorists around every corner, I thought we'd take the high road here and introduce you to an actual Iranian named Farzad Ajory who shares the American affinity for shredding metal and creating websites only a music geek would love. According to Farzad's biography, he studied in Tehran under the tutelage of Farhang Mostagh for three years (which apparently means something in Tehran) and developed further on his own until his music was "liberated" by western digital music technology. Since then he's been recording instrumentals based on improvisation that are expressed in "space rock", prog and metal which you can find on his official website. Farzad may or may not have an actual Michigan music connection, but if we told you we'd have to kill you. So let it suffice to say that you can find Farzad Ajory in the Original Artists / Instrumentalists category of our Band Links section.

The first thing you notice when you cue up "Working Man" on Union Avenue's MySpace page is that this band lives deep in the pocket - which is a very satisfying place to be. The next thing you notice is the exquisite guitar work of Lenny Earls (we're told the son of legendary Sun Records 1950’s recording artist Jack Earls). Finally, you notice your foot is tapping, your head is bobbing and your body's wervin' to the funky rhythm of "Catfish" - which nearly has you out of your chair. By the time "All Your Loving" rolls on out you've made up your mind to go see this band live because it's been much too long since you've gone out dancing - and you just know the serious blues dancers are going to be following these guys around (you know, the ones with the white patent-leather shoes, the button-down, long-sleeve shirts with contrasting checkered polyester slacks circa-1970 and the ladies in any dress that accentuates their twirl). But even if you're not a fan of the blues, don't you forget to bring your dancin' shoes because Union Avenue can nail rock, reggae and country too.

| MB Welcomes The Whiskey Rhythm Band |

I don't know about you bandheads out there, but when I was gigging regularly I couldn't get my groove on without '...a taste born of hoary nights....the boldly flavorful yet surprisingly smooth spirit of Yukon Jack...' - or Southern Comfort, or Jeigermeister, or some other type of flammable liquer that was both sweet and dangerous when consumed in large quantities. Whiskey Rhythm is both the perfect description for that subtle state between stiff sobriety and alcoholic meltdown and our latest band-link submission in the Cover Bands / Classic Rock category. This Battle Creek quartet also play a fair amount of blues, so they can re-submit their link in our Cover Bands / Blues category as well. If you're lost in southern Michigan sometime or just need a stiff drink before you go to Ohio, look 'em up. For now, click "read more" below for the link.

It used to be that a "garage band" was a group of young men who actually rehearsed in a garage and annoyed the neighbors as well as the local police department - not a band website, Mac recording software or some retro ideal to be attained after careful mimicry and thousands of dollars spent copping a sound. A real garage band would have to pull some strings and do some arm-twisting or convince the local bar owner that letting your mostly under-age act play for free in his bar was worth risking his liquor license - and besides, Uncle Matt on bass is old enough to drink and that should count for something, right? Yes, the true heritage of garage is a hungry cover band who swear allegiance to the blues while doing their best to entertain you with a variety of classic covers. And today, that "garage" band (see photo for authenticity) is Lauderdale, our latest addition to the Cover Bands / Blues category. Click "read more" below for links.
