| Survey Results: Your connection speed |
|
According to our last reader's poll , over 57 percent of respondents are running cable modems! So Comcast is raking it in and you're wondering how long you're going to be able to pay $40 or $50 a month once your sign-up incentive expires, right? Yeah, so are we. Something's gonna have to give - guess I don't really need five HBO channels. Guess I don't really need to go out every weekend. Guess I don't have to eat every day. Just don't make me go back to dial-up! Check out our new survey before the repo-man shows up to take your cable modem back.

| Survey Results: Most Effective Marketing |
|
According to our last survey, "What's your most effective marketing technique?", posters/flyers and word of mouth are still the favored method of reaching an audience (33.33% and 31.25% respectively). E-mail and giveaways are still a good deal behind those methods (12.5% and 10.42% respectively). Street Teams and Press Coverage are tied with a paltry 4.17% (so why do I bother?) and direct mail and other methods of marketing tie for last with 2.08%. Nobody chose benefit concerts or table tee-pees as their most effective marekting technique. Our next survey asks, "What's Your Connection?" speed so we might better be able to serve you in the future. We've shyed away from fancy graphics on this site with the belief that most of you dial-up to Michiganbands.com. Let's see where we end up. Oh, and click "Read More" below for words of wisdom from our average survey respondent.

According to our latest survey ("What percentage of the music that you buy is by unsigned artists?") the the greatest number of respondents by category (35.71 percent) still only own a couple of CD's by unsigned artists. You can check the results here.
Since Michiganbands.com is a free-for-all, we'd like your suggestions for a new survey topic. Please use the "Comments" button below and get involved in shaping your online music community. Besides, we're tired of doing all the work. ; )

| Survey Results: You gonna ''Make it?'' |
|
According to our last survey, "My Chances of Making It (however defined) are...", twenty percent of respondents think they'll "make it" in the music business within three to five years at the most. Unfortunately, those same people responded exactly the same way three to five years ago - which just goes to show you can never underestimate the power of denial. Click "Read More" below to get Mitch's take on the remaining survey results.

Being the nosey bastards that we are we'd like your opinion on
something.
What percentage of the music that you buy is from unsigned artists?
It's no secret that the profits of major labels are dropping off. The
record companies are attributing this to piracy, while some research shows that the worst file sharing offenders
may actually buy more music than they did previously. This begs the
question; "If it's not piracy, could it be that people are looking for
something different"?
The poll is not about a guilt trip, we'd like some honest answers here.
