wiki writes MichiganMusicians.com will be launching our new website soon and we are excited to be adding a new sister site to it called Michigan Music Radio (www.michiganmusicradio.com) which will feature some great Michigan artists/bands. Our members will be able to stream our radio shows via an on board media player.
I will be hosting the show myself so if you would like to be featured on our new radio show please either send me a CD of your band, or you can email me your MP3 files.

| Will Royalty Hikes Signal The End Of Indie Webcasting? |

A recent decision by United States Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) has set a high bar for independent webcasters who want to stream digital audio for little or no profit. The decision will hike royalty rates for non-interactive webcasting an average of nearly 25 percent annually between 2006 (retroactively) and 2010, effectively quashing small or non-profit webcasters and clearing the way for internet media consolidation for those who can afford it. The WDET Spring Fundraiser Showcases will take place on Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24 at the local music venue, 313.jac- upstairs at Jacoby’s. Featured will be bands and solo performers that reflect the various eclectic styles of music often heard on the WDET's unique programming. | Broadcasters To Pay Off FCC To End Payola Investigation |
|
According to a story in The New York Times, the FCC has reached a tentative settlement with four of the largest radio broadcasters in the U.S., effectively ending a year-old payola investigation. Times reporter Jeff Leeds writes that Clear Channel, CBS Radio, Entercom Communications, and Ciditel Commmunications will pay $12.5 million to the federal agency. If approved, the settlement will represent the largest one-time fine in FCC history. Click "read more" below.
