The "Discovery Series" on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Music Hall's Jazz Caf is launching a year long search for Detroit's best and freshest new talent. Musicians who perform in the series, beginning in September, will be eligible for the Jazz Caf Discovery Award, which will be awarded in July of 2008. Jazz, Blues and R&B Performers are all encouraged to participate. "There is such a great wealth of unrecognized talent in the city, we want to offer a platform to help some worthy group on the path to their success", says Vince Paul, President of Music Hall, "There are so many legendary performers who have graced the stages here, we hope to be able to add some new Detroit names to that roster over the years to come"
The Surrogate Band, Michigan’s Pink Floyd Tribute Band known throughout the Midwest United States as one of the premier tribute bands in the business and highly respected for bringing the most authentic recreations of all era’s of Pink Floyd’s music to its fans, today announced that it is changing its name to Echoes of Pink Floyd.
Detroit rockers Lime Regal have announced the release date of their debut six-song EP entitled Making Me Wonder. The album will be released to the public during the group's performance at The Magic Bag in Ferndale, Michigan at 8pm on Friday, August 24, 2007. 
Musicians David Gries, Aziza Poggi (Dendura) and Steve Hopton (Ex-Riot in Progress) star in "Broken", the $985 award-winning feature film directed by Derek Justice and David DeLeon for Top 250 Productions. "Broken" hit big at two film festivals in Michigan and Ohio this weekend. The film garnered four nominations and three wins at two festivals in the same weekend.
Michigan-based "Northern Rock" collective the Great Lakes Myth Society take the road in support of their latest 2007 release Compass Rose Bouquet. Great Lakes Myth Society will be supporting the legendary Patti Smith for the evening, who ranks among the most influential female rock & rollers of all time.
