With the Holiday season upon us, children's thoughts turn to sugarplums, xbox 360s, and...the polka! Yes, it's that time of year again, and this season it's metro Detroit's favorite polka rock parodists, The Polish Muslims @ The Crofoot Ballroom, (1 S. Saginaw Street, Pontiac, Ph: 248-858-9333) on Saturday, December 20. As has been the tradition their last few Christmas season shows, their very special guests will be blue-eyed soulster Stewart Francke. Opening the show will be the Kielbasa Kings, an anything but traditional polka band, whose polka version of the Violent Femmes "Blisters in the Sun" has made them local favorites.

| Friends of Bill Koggenhop Plan Musical Tribute |

Royal Oak: Beloved local bass player Bill Koggenhop passed away last June after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Bill packed an enormous amount of music into his 55 years, and touched an extraordinary number of lives. Many of Bill’s friends across multiple musical genres are gathering on Tuesday November 11, 7:00 pm, at Memphis Smoke. 100 S. Main in Royal Oak, to honor his legacy with what promises to be one huge and juicy evening of Reggae, Blues, Latin and Jazz, topped off by a whale of a jam session with some of the region’s finest players. Bands and soloists thus far include Immunity, Bugs Beddow Band, Lynn LaPlante Latin Jazz Band, GEQ, Mikhal Caldwell, Kerry Lundquist and Chery Strubel.

| Concert Commemorates 40th Anniversary of MC5’s Seminal Track |

DarkGreene Entertainment celebrates the 40th anniversary of the release of The MC5's “Kick Out The Jams” with Detroit Music Revolution, a multi-band concert at The Crofoot in Pontiac on Thursday, October 30. 2008. The event not only commemorates the MC5, but also fetes the release of “Detroit Music Revolution: Rock and roll Volume 1” (DarkGreene Entertainment), a 14 track CD featuring top contemporary Detroit rock bands covering classic Detroit songs from the MC5 era.
Confirmed performers (also appearing on the CD) include The Muggs, The Orbitsuns, Paper Street Saints, Powertrane, 60 Second Crush, Critical Bill, Lies Unknown, Overloaded, Ingray, Mazinga, Stellar Drive, Smoking Moses, Pillar of Autumn, and Duende.

 Female fronted rock/metal bands are taking the forefront in music and making their mark in the industry. We, here in Michigan are fortunate to have some of the hottest up and coming female fronted bands.
I wanted to let you know about a special event happening on Saturday, October 4th at MoDoggies in Fenton, Michigan. Reckless Entertainment is proud to present the all female fronted Femme Metal Fest w/ Mound Round Engine, The Beauty Fire with Publik Parking and Dendura co-headlining. This is the only festival dedicated to women singers in Michigan. Dendura has recently signed with Killzone Records, has an album coming out w/ Grammy Producer Neil Kernon and has done a theme song with Comedy Central (Monsters Ballz) and was recently in Metal Hammer. Publik Parking recently signed with Revolution Music Records, is #1 on myspace for Michigan metal, and is one of the most respected hard rock/metal outfits in Flint, MI. The amazing, The Beauty Fire is also from Flint and Clarkston, Michigan and Mound Road Engine is a high profile band from Detroit, Michigan.

Musicians and music lovers of all ages and skill levels will not want to miss the first annual Metro Music Expo, September 12-14 at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, MI. The MME is a weekend jam packed with music, education, networking and fun! The Metro Music Expo will feature continuous live music on two stages, a sprawling retail area encompassing records, wearables and collectibles and educational presentations which will present expert discussions on current and perennial hot topics in the music industry, audio and stage lighting clinics.

| Cobalt Party Revolution lands on Soundtrack! |

cashtill writes The Cobalt Party Revolution track, Who Wants to Party has landed on the soundtrack for the film, Ping Pong Playa, starring Jimmy Tsai and Roger Fan and directed by Jessica Yu. The song is featured predominantly in the movie as well as in the trailer (see it here, CPR comes in at :46 sec). The film hit select markets on September 5th with a nationwide release planned shortly thereafter; Already the film has garnered huge praise. The soundtrack will be released via Lakeshore Records on Sept. 30th. (pre-orders now available via amazon.com) Lakeshore Records have released several successful soundtracks such as Napoleon Dynamite, The Last Kiss (in which the CPR track "stand around (don't just) appeared in the trailer) and Superbad).
