MichSongs writes March is the last month for entries for the 2005 Michigan Songwriting Contest
Submissions must be postmarked by March 31. The contest is open to current and former Michigan residents only, and features 13 winners, a $1,000 cash prize, and performance and publicity opportunities. No age limits, no music categories, we're looking for Michigan's best songs: rock, folk, country, jazz, instrumental, Christian, alt-anything, hip hop. Each song judged is on its own merits.
Formerly the Metro Detroit Songwriting Contest (and formerly limited to Southeast Michigan residents), this year's contest is co-sponsored by Elderly Instruments of Lansing and Lamb's Retreat for Songwriters of Royal Oak and Harbor Springs.
For info on the 2004 winners and the 2005 contest, go to www.MichSongs.com.

| BLIND SHAME parts ways with drummer: The search begins… |
|
blindshame2003 writes With a New Year underway and new events unfolding, a new chapter begins for the band. Blind Shame has parted ways with long-time drummer Barb Teeter. Barb will always be part of our family; but sometimes family must part ways as they travel their own paths in life. We wish Barb the best in everything. She may no longer be a part of the band, but she will always be a friend, and a sister to us.
The band would like to introduce our good friend Dan Chapa, who will be filling in on drums for the time being. Dan is a seasoned player, and will bring a new element to our songs. We are taking our time finding a new drummer, so he is helping us out for awhile, as we begin our search. Be sure to stop by, and say hello to Dan at the next few shows we have coming up. He makes his debut with us this Saturday night, at Rick’s in E. Lansing, MI. We return for our hometown show, at The Magic Bag in Ferndale on Saturday March 12.

Sgtpepper64 writes
The first CD by Michigan band, The Weight is available now on Fools Gold Records. A flashback to good Rock and Roll, "The Weight" is sure to please any rock fan. Avilable now at
www.theweight.com
Note: Obviously a band of few words. The link they submitted to this site states; "The Weight was formed in an effort to keep the original spirit of Rock and Roll alive." They certainly have the look, the video is cool;
now all we have to do it hear them. How about some audio samples from the CD guys...
