Tuesday Evening Music Club Tripled Previous Turnout at Meijer Gardens
ralston writes Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park's final concert of the season for the Tuesday Evening Music Club regional band series had many local and regional Michigan musicians taking the stage. Host Ralston Bowles invited any artists who played in the month long series to deliver a closing, ensemble rendition of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." Guests included guitarist Michael Crittenden, violinist Bruce Ling, keyboard player Dave Molinari and members of The Hummingbirds and Oxter Mahone. Marketing director, Sally Littlefair from the Gardens gave Ralston a stage hug, and for good reason: The series tripled last year's turnout by drawing close to 4,500 in attendance.

 Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts
The destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina in nearly unfathomable. It is human nature when faced with a task as great as the one at hand to postpone action. This can not be an option. All of us need to take a part, no mater how small, in helping the victims of this tragedy.

I've set up a link box on the right that accepts donations for the Salvation Army. 100% of the donation goes to Katrina victims. The donation link was "barrowed"  from WJR.com (ABC Radio Detroit).

Local bands have already stepped up and are organizing fundraisers for the victims of Katrina.  Kudos to all. If you are planning a relief benefit for Katrina victims be sure to let us know so we can post it.  Special thanks to GT-Bass of Funkilinium for putting together a comprehensive list of organizations that are accepting donations of time and money. Click on Read more below for the list.

Detroit Rock Band Jackie Blue to Help Hurricane Katrina victims
Jackie Blue, a rock band based in Detroit and well known for their community work, has partnered with CDBaby.com and the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. All profits from the sale of its CDs purchased through CDBaby.com will go to the American Red Cross.

(PRWEB) -- Jackie Blue, a rock band based in Detroit and well known for their community work, has partnered with CDBaby.com and the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. All profits from the sale of our CDs purchased through CDBaby.com will go to the American Red Cross.

Tom Libertiny, Jackie Blue's bass player and a native of Florida, understands all too well what the people are going through--from the first hit of Katrina in Florida to the devastation along the coast of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. "Growing up in Florida, I was aware of the damage caused by hurricanes especially by the flooding water, but I've never seen anything like what we're now witnessing."
