 MB Welcomes November Fire
Michiganbands.com would like to welcome our latest band-link entry, November Fire.  They're a three-piece out of Pickney, MI, with Matt Prokopp on guitar, Jerad Osterman on bass, and Cody Leverette on drums. They count old Metallica, Mercyful Fate, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom  and Venom as influences, so as you might expect, they can now be found in the Hardcore & Metal  category in our band-links section.  If you want to check out their sound, they currently have four songs available on their MySpace page that cover the gamut: "Toal Darkness" sounds like spastic punks on speedballs; "Burn Their King" opens with clean arpeggios that devolve into the battering charge of machines;  but "Hell on Earth"  and "Drifting To No Where" (sic) open old-school - with a guitar attack in two completely different styles (ah, reminds me of my misguided youth - oh, and my misspent adulthood).  If you can't wait to get your fill of young spunk and you want to check them out live, you can find November Fire at the the Pinckney High School 5th Annual Battle Of The Bands this Friday, November 16th, 2007.  Click "read more" for below for details.

Bogdon Box on Bass Player TV
Chris Badynee's Bogdon Box Bass has been making its rounds and this time has landed on the virtual doorstep of Bass Player TV,  the net extension of Bass Player Magazine which recently featured the Bogdon in its "New Gear" section.  Managing editor Greg Olwell takes the Bogdon Box out for a slow shufffle just to see if this cardboard upright really has the goods.  There are three videos available on the site including "Construction" in which he walks you through the steps necessary to create the cardboard bass; "Materials" which points out the various features of the bass, including its "weed-wacker line" strings and double-sided taped inducer pick-up, and "Demo", where you get to see the bass in action.

Detroit's Crud Featured on CSI episode on Thursday, November 15
Detroit rock band Crud will be spotlighted on one of television's most popular crime dramas -- "CSI," this Thursday, November 15 on CBS.  The episode will feature Crud's song "Assume the Position" during a flashback scene where two CSI colleagues are engaged in hot physical relations.

This is the third "CSI" episode highlighting Crud's music.  In recent months, Crud's music has been featured on dozens of national shows airing on MTV, Spike TV, E!, VH1 and more.  The band recently returned from a successful tour of the UK, and will be headlining a New Year's Eve event at the Magic Stick in Detroit.

Crud's songs as featured on CSI are on the band's debut CD "Devil at the Wheel" now available on Full Effect Records.  For more information on Crud and their music, hit myspace.com/cruddetroit and fulleffectrecords.com

We're in the process of purging the system here on MB, so if you find something that doesn't work or perhaps a link that doesn't go anywhere, please let us know or use the "report broken link" link under each band link. Your kindness will not go unnoticed.

New Free Online Album from Flipping The Pig
fthep writes The new Flipping The Pig album, You Get The Idea, was released online for free download on November 8, 2007 at www.flippingthepig.comAs usual, the music is a grab bag of power pop, brooding acoustic numbers, oddities, wry humor, reflection, folk, art-rock leanings, and whatever else this one-man-band feels like creating.  This time around the power pop side came to the forefront a bit more, though.

"
While Flipping the Pig might only consist of Jeff Mansk and his eclectic and oft funny side, there are times when you feel almost reassured that there's more than one person behind this madness; perhaps he's suffering from a mental disorder..." - Smother.net

MB welcomes ''Banned From Earth'' - Black Sabbath Tribute
Banned From Earth Black Sabbath Tribute BandMichiganbands.com would like to welcome our latest band-link submission, Banned From Earth - a Black Sabbath tribute band from Ferndale, MI.  Not only do they have the distinction of being only the second tribute band on our site (I know, what an honor right? ), but they're the FIRST to actually post a useful message in our recently restored forums for which we are truly grateful.  Keep up the good work guys. Oh and if you know any good cover venues for this band, drop them some ideas at this thread

Make sure to visit their MySpace page and re-live your drug-addled youth by listening to versions of "Snowblind", and "War Pigs" or even lesser known numbers such as "Behind The Wall Of Sleep".  You can also check out some YouTube video of their recent performances.   Click "read more" below for a song list and a link.

 Forums Are Coming Back
mitch writes It's been years now since we closed the forums - which was probably not the smartest thing to do in the age of "social networking". But they sucked a lot of time and energy due to abuse, spammers, malcontents, etc.. We didn't have the time to babysit bandheads to make sure they treated one another with courtesy and respect. It's that lack of trust and solidarity, I'm convinced, that has led our country, and this website, to the sorry state they are in today. But there are a few true believers out there who, despite their better interest, continue to fight the good fight for local music. One of those people, Jeff (Wiki) of MichiganMusicians.com, has volunteered to do what we refuse to do - moderate the forums. There's a few bugs to work out yet, but watch for their return. - Mitch

Doop & The Inside Outlaws at Magic Bag
Anonymous writes Doop & The Inside Outlaws make their debut performance at The Magic Bag on Friday, November 16 at 8pm, opening for Bloodshot recording artists the Deadstring Brothers CD release party.  Hot on the heels of their debut album, “Blood  River”, which was released in late-September, Doop and the boys start off the night bringing their down-home  Americana rock to the stage of  Ferndale’s premiere live music venue, The Magic Bag.  “Blood River” features ten tracks produced by Jim Diamond at Ghetto Recorders. The album is receiving national airplay and local spins on WRIF and on the acoustic music show, "Open Mike Café". Reviewers of the CD have compared Doop’s songwriting to such artists as Bruce Springsteen and Bob Seger.
