| Interview: Vinnie & Dana from CRUD |
Since 2000, Crud has been giving some of the most talked-about live performances in the city of Detroit and beyond. They've been known to wear vinyl, perform in their underwear, wear pasties, play strip joints and have even shared their stage with some scary-ass, bad-mannered puppets. Crud's 'super-charged sex rock' has been compared to White Zombie and Ministry and their latest CD, “Devil At The Wheel”, was described by one fan as, ‘'a thoroughly enjoyable romp through the kind of sleazo, nitrous oxide-injected rock'n'roll that anyone with a taste for nasty guitars and pounding rhythms is gonna dig’. Couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Crud’s label, Full Effect Records, will be sending the crew on tour in support of the international release of “Devil At The Wheel”. I caught up with frontman Vin E Dombrowski (Sponge, Orbitsuns) and bassist Dana Forrester (60 Second Crush) this week via e-mail.

| Fox Rocks Winner Announced and Questioned |
Fox 2 Detroit just announced the winner of their My Fox Rocks battle of the bands. The Matt Austin Band has been chosen to open up for Def Leppard and Styx at DTE on Tuesday, July 24th. Austin beat out hundreds of local bands from the metro Detroit area including some of our favorites. Coincidentally (or not), it was also announced that The Matt Austin Band was chosen to compete in Simon Cowell's new Fox franchise "The Next Great American Band" - which leads this cynic to question the validity of the contest. I know there will probably be some "sour grapes" comments from the lucky winners, the Fox producers and even Austin's fans (we're certainly not saying they don't deserve the shot - sounds like a decent band), but do you believe the results of this particular contest were pre-determined as a local promotional vehicle for The Next Great American Band? Does it matter? Vote in our latest survey and please feel free to chime in with your comments below.

| Interview: Radar Pilot's John Piasentin & Art Peitsch |
In 2005, members from two of our favorite bands merged to form Radar Pilot. John Piasentin from the progressive group Space Nelson and Art Peitsh from Super Model-T found themselves bandless in 2005 and kicked around the idea of writing together. By early 2006 they'd penned almost a dozen new tracks and didn't have to look very far for a willing rhythm section; former bandmates Jeff Golzynski (Super Model-T) and Eric "Fish" Fischer (Space Nelson) were happy to oblige on bass and drums respectively. The result was, well, best described as two-parts Space Nelson and two-parts Super Model-T. We caught up with Art & John by e-mail a week before their upcoming gig at Smalls in Hamtramck.
