When Life Gets Tough, Get Your Muruga On

Muruga & The Global Village Ceremonial BandNow that our so-called representatives have sold us down the river and we'll be renting refrigerator boxes from JPMorgan Chase well into the future, the need for musical escapism is more important that ever.  So on a randomized safari through our band links section I thought it particularly serendipitous to discover the music of Muruga & The Global Village Ceremonial Band in our Original Artists/World & Ethnic Music category.  The leading track on Muruga's Amie St. web page, "Rock The Planet",  has that bizarro P-Funk vibe, like you drank way too much cheap wine and wandered into a block party in some forgotten corner of Detroit and you don't care if you ever get home. The kind of vibe that gives you permission to smoke whatever is passed to you in a circle of strangers.  That kinda vibe. The best part - you can get five of Muruga's funky surreal sonic-scapes on Aime St.for just $1.10 and that's better than a bag full of sliders after a night on 8 Mile - and you don't even have to go there.  Click "read more" for the link and details.

 MB Welcomes MsBehavin

MsBehavin'MsBehavin' describes itself as a party band who plays everything from classic rock to modern rock to country and blues - making them our latest band link in the Cover Bands / Variety category.  The band consists of Michelle Lauka on lead vocals, Mike Pritchard on lead and rhythm guitars, Al Mangani on bass and guitars and Nick Vincentini on drums. Their stated goal is to make sure every room is rockin' and everybody's having a great time.  Don't believe it? MsBehavin' invites you to stop on by wherever they're playing, grab some party beads and have a shot with the band.  The shot's for your nerves and to your health. The beads are for, well, MsBehavin'.

Click "read more" below for a link to their site and a closer look at that outfit.

noah_4218 writes

Ferncare Benefit Needs Bands I'm am involved in this free clinic that's going to be opening soon in Ferndale. We are having a benefit at AJ's and want to promote local bands (at least one member has to "have a foot in Ferndale, i.e. live here).  If your friends/acquaintances are interested here's the information that I'm passing arround:

Looking for bands interested in playing on November 13, 14, 15. The band will have a 45 min time slot, get 40% of the profits and have an opportunity to promote their name and brag about their community involvement.

Please tell people to sign up at AJ's on 9 mile, contact me by e-mail (a.m.sah154@gmail.com).

Please check out our website at www.ferncare.orgwww.ferncare.org

Thanks. I hope to see you at the event!

 MB Welcomes Methlab

MethlabMethlab is dangerous. Methlab is loud.  Methlab is the latest addition to our band links section in the Original Artists / Hardcore & Metal category. They sound just as pissed-off, violent, insane and unpredictable as you might expect a band who is named after something so toxic and illegal. They're every parent's nightmare and every club-owner's headache - and everything you'd want in a hardcore band from Waterford (which is dangerously close to Pontiac).  Unfortunately, being good at what you do doesn't always win you friends and influence people. So, Methlab is in need of gigs. If they promise not to break all your shit, could Aaron, Mikey, Joey and Davey come and play some songs for you?  They've got a real fast n' nasty one called "No Joke, No Soul" on their myspace page.  -  Mitch

Concert Of Hope Benefit

From Drummer Dave - This past month one of the stylists at my salon, a 28 yr. old single mother of 2 small children has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I am putting this show to help her as she will have to receive some major surgeries in the coming months. Please help me spread the word as this will be the first time all the original members of BRIDGE have played on stage together in over 4 years...yes Geo, Jason, Paul, and me!! Also some of the greatest bands around town have donated their time so we can take some of the financial burden off of her so she can focus on getting well...

Thank you for taking the time to read this and see you all on Sunday, September 28th at the US12 Bar & Grill …bands start @ 7pm

SINCERELY

Last Chance To Solve The MB Puzzler

puzzlerSeveral months ago I added a members-only feature called the MB Puzzler on the right hand column of this website.  Well, apparently, our members are much too busy with their music careers to be bothered with such trifles as word games, right? So out of the goodness of my heart, I'm opening up the puzzler to anybody who cares to solve it.  Click "read more" below, solve the band-name anagram, find the secret link, solve the puzzle and win prizes!  Well, the first two who send me the correct answers to the puzzler will get some free music. Are you up to the challenge? - Mitch
