| Who's Got A Golden God? Ain't Tellin. |

One of the highlights we caught at the Metro Music Expo was the performance of one of the Fox Rocks 2008 finalists, Garden City's AYNTELLYN (pronouced Ain't Tellin' - ed: do you know how hard it is to find a band on the internet when they get fancy with the spelling?). Of particular interest were the lead vocals as delivered by Dino Johnson. Johnson has been blessed with the golden locks and a golden baritone that screams CLASSIC ROCK! - which should make them a shoe-in for the grand prize - an opening slot for Lynard Skynard at DTE on September 21st, 2008. In fact, Johnson's voice is such a draw that even when he sang karaoke at the DJ's Pro Audio booth he drew a sizable crowd.

Note: UPDATE: ****Ayntellyn WINS!!!**** the Fox Rocks 2008 Battle Of The Bands and will go on to open for Lynard Skynard!

| National Ghost's Ice Cream Head Added To MB Videos |
|
Spent a couple of days at the Metro Music Expo this weekend and took in a bunch of live performances, including Graham Strachan's latest project National Ghost which performed on the Lounge Stage this past Sunday afternoon. They played a bunch of selections off their forthcoming debut which is slated for release at Jacoby's on November 1st - so mark your calendars. One particular song they performed, a little ska ditty called "Ice Cream Head", is a bona fide ear worm that has infected our household ever since I recorded it on video (pls forgive the camera work). Hey bandheads, didn't think you'd ever hear from me again, eh? What's that? You don't care? Tsk, tsk, you should get so much attention. Well, I felt the whim to submit some new MBlurbs for your perusal. Oh, feel free to submit your own - that offer has only been available since 2001 so if you haven't yet contributed, you can take that as a hint.
In this edition of MBlurbs we'll be covering Liz Larin's foray into avante garde with New Music Detroit, Kitty Donohoe's attempt to levitate The Pentagon with her 9/11 music, Nadir's dose of tear gas courtesy of the Republican National Convention, National Ghost's latest attempt to acheive validation at the MME, Chris McCall's extra-musical "Contact" in Ypsi and finally, Radar Pilot's national health care policy - since nobody else seems to have one that works. While Repugnicon presidential candidate John McCain sings "bomb, bomb, bomb......bomb, bomb, IRAN" to salivating American defense contractors and fear-mongered voters who still see Islamic terrorists around every corner, I thought we'd take the high road here and introduce you to an actual Iranian named Farzad Ajory who shares the American affinity for shredding metal and creating websites only a music geek would love. According to Farzad's biography, he studied in Tehran under the tutelage of Farhang Mostagh for three years (which apparently means something in Tehran) and developed further on his own until his music was "liberated" by western digital music technology. Since then he's been recording instrumentals based on improvisation that are expressed in "space rock", prog and metal which you can find on his official website. Farzad may or may not have an actual Michigan music connection, but if we told you we'd have to kill you. So let it suffice to say that you can find Farzad Ajory in the Original Artists / Instrumentalists category of our Band Links section.
