 Robb Roy #1 on MuchMusic
Robb Roy beats Radiohead, Macy Gray and Mary J. Blige at MuchMusic USA!

We won!!! And we owe it all to you, our fans. We asked you to get out and vote, and you did. We asked you to leave comments on the MuchMusic USA website, and you did. We asked you to email all of your friends and have them to do the same, and you did. Who would have guessed that Robb Roy would beat out 9 other artists that are backed by major record labels, especially artists like Radiohead, Macy Gray and Mary J. Blige? We thought we might have a chance to compete with them if we had lots of help from our fans, and you came out full-force! You proved that Robb Roy fans are the greatest!

Thank you again for all of your support,
Graham, Mike, John and Duane
Robb Roy

 Expose Yourself!
Did you know you could maximize your exposure on Michiganbands.com by simply buying an ad? Sure, you get a listing from us for free, but it doesn't get the kind of exploitive attention your band needs to stick in the subconscious Id of our daily readers - I mean the kind of shameless exposure that's the difference between, "Never heard of 'em" and "Yeah, I think I've heard of them. In fact I think I heard they were good. You know what, for some odd reason I have the irrepressible urge to see that band live and I think my chances for procreation increase exponentially every time I buy a CD!" So drop the Webmaster an e-mail, check out our idiotic prices and expose yourself on Michiganbands.com. Do it now or forever be caught holding your piece.

 Rub It In
Three shows you shouldn't have missed.

Editor Mitch Phillips is still recovering from three shows you shouldn't have missed: "The Dearborn Homecoming Festival"; "Club of Faith's 21 Band Salute" and Mary's MA "Back to School Hip-Hop Bash."

 Random Reviews - Lophoria
Band - Lophoria
Song - Waiting

Back in my day, you dragged a few of your friends along into the garage, pieced together as much second-hand and borrowed equipment you could lay your hands on and bashed-out your first song based on whatever spastic modal inventions happened to ooze from your inflated, guitar-weilding ego. Getting that first tune down was an event, and the tune would haunt you with delusions of grandeur and promises of your inevitable success. I just don't remember the music being so depressing. Remember people, keep your firearms locked away from your teenagers.

 Random Reviews - Mystic Shake
Band - Mystic Shake
Song - Can't Believe

Mystic Shake describe their music as, "Festive music for kids of all ages." The Calypso-infused "Can't Believe," which describes a romantic moment interrupted by a naked corpse (listen if you want the gory details), makes you want to kick off your shoes, weild your fruity umbrella drink, and dance in the sandy beaches of your subconscious. This is Carribbean Cruise music that makes you feel silly. Mystic Shake reminds us that sometimes music should be pure, unadulterated fun.

 Dick Wagner releases on MP3.com

Michigan rock icon Dick Wagner has released several of his tunes on mp3.com for download. Many of us veterans remember Dick from some of his early projects like the Bossmen, The Frost or Ursa Major. Others will know him through his guitar work and song writing for rock notables like Aerosmith, Hall & Oates, Air Supply, Burton Cummings, Lou Reed, Roberta Flack, and Steve Perry. Check your liner notes on Alice Cooper's "Welcome To My Nightmare" album and you'll see that Wagner wrote or collaborated on several tracks from that album including "Only Women Bleed" and the title track. In addition he did all of the guitar work.

 XTC by Mod Ev
Finally, "Distortion" Dave Kupczak has delivered on his long awaited review of Mod Ev's "XTC." Over a year in the making (the review, not the CD), Kupczak has followed the band from hang-over hovels to the Harleyfest to bring you a distillation of his experience of this hard, loud and heavy Detroit band.
