Anonymous writes First thing first, The "Behind Me" photo rules, what a cool idea and cd name. Jackie Blue has done the impossible with this debut masterpiece. This Detroit "Funk n Roll" party train formed recently in May 2000. WOW! They kept their costs low by virtually doing "EVERYTHING" themselves(Recording, Mixing, Mastering, Publishing, etc...), not to mention in such a short time frame.
This cd plain out rocks "start to finish". Original music at its finest. Bands should take notice and follow this pace. Nothing in this cd is lost, the recording is proffessional, all songs are solid, endless efforts displayed from each member.
Jackie Blue obviously brings many years of experience to the drawing board. Songs like "Detroit Queen" & "G" shine more talents than most of there influences(Lenny Kravitz, Korn, Sly & the Family Stone, Aerosmith, Pretenders). These songs will leave you singing over & over for days.
What a band biography. Guitar player becomes drummer, bass player becomes guitar player, shows in New York City, Detroit, Ohio, full length cd, websites, etc... accomplishments never ending. All this within a year???
Todd Laucombe playes the drums like nobody's business, hard hitting, solid, demanding non stop wreckage. Tom Fiziks bass lines bother the soul, nicely tweaked, extremely smooth, fast paced perfection. Chip Thomas will take you places you've only imagined on guitar. Guitar solo's that screams over-indulgence, mean rhythm's, & structured timing. Its a beautiful thing. Brent McKay's heart felt vocals offer melodic sweetness & endless attitude. Dave Mathews Band your days are numbered, there's a new group in town called Jackie Blue.
The entire cd is fun, a fine choice for partying loudly too, or perhaps vaccuming the house. Buy this cd its a big thumbs up. Retro-Flavored Power Pop/Rock funk at its finest. Siskel & Ebert would be proud. Warning, Track Listings: Detroit Queen, Shame, G, Daylight, Jackie, I.B.Waltz Virginia, Another Day, Channel 5, Free Me, & Forget Slow, may stunt your growth and induce labor.

| Random Reviews: Loadstone |

Admit it. You really don't care.
Loadstone warms you up to their precarious mood with an innocuous groove and understated complaints, then slams your head against the garage door again and agian until you admit, to God and all present that "Nobody Notices" or really gives a damn when you're having a lousy day.

Bowen's Arrow spawns puppy love in "Maria."
What happens when a bunch of starry-eyed boys begin writing songs in the midst of their hormone-ragin' puberty? A weepy dedication to the girl of the moment.

| O'Bryan Reports on Wrenfields Return To Memphis Smoke |
|
The show went great tonight. Neil (soundman) recorded us on CD so we have a good reference of the show. An interesting version of 21st Century Pioneer I must say... The B-Man had his wackiness elevated with a giveaway promotion called the "Hay Play in May Giveaway". We gave away a lifetime's supply of pork rinds (microwavable), an antique washboard made in Memphis, an Elvis laminated clock, a bull skull with matching horns and a gift certificate for dinner at Memphis Smoke. The crowd really went nuts during the prizes and Playmate Kimberly Spicer was the B-Man's Vanna...We did the whole promotion during a middle break of a Wilco song "Casino Queen". The guy who won the gift certificate proposed to his girlfriend during the second half of our set!
On to the big news...We just got booked for the Dearborn Homecoming which is Dearborn's City festival. We are opening for Tony Orlando!!! I'm not sure yet if Dawn will be there. We're playing August 4th from 6pm to 8pm.
We got hooked up with the Farmington Festival and I have a meeting next week with the Chamber of Commerce in Pontiac to hopefully get us booked at Arts, Beats and Eats and the Woodward Dream Cruise. Lots going on.
Thanks again to Michiganbands.com.
Talk to you soon!

SIMPLE WISDOM is a 6 piece army, bringing with them the relentless sound of chaos. They bring an all-out assault to the forefront of their music fused with melody and emotion. SIMPLE WISDOM joined as one force the winter of ‘01 and with this creation they will take the music industry by storm.
Masses have been drawn in by SIMPLE WISDOM’s sound, which stands on it’s own and has already grabbed much attention from the media. With a large buzz building around the band, this 6 man army has decided to move forth and release their form of sound & style into a larger market.
SIMPLE WISDOM is ready to take the world by force and with their
up-and-coming “EP” release “SIMPLE WISDOM,” which will be released in the spring of 2001 with a tour soon to follow. Their album of melody, aggression and emotion! SIMPLE WISDOM singers Dave and Rian state that “This is no side show attraction, this is who and what we are, a unit, a force, we are the calm before the storm.”
